Buyer

PRIMARY FOCUS:

The Buyer is responsible for maintaining purchased inventory levels, at budget costs, by coordinating inventory movements throughout the LPC plant, supplier and 3PL network.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Purchase materials for the DeForest plant using production planning, sales forecasts, and MRP software

· Create, review, submit and track vendor purchase orders and inter-plant inventory transfers

· Plan, and monitor the results of cycle counts. Develop continual improvement plans for increasing inventory accuracy

· Investigate and identify root causes for inventory inaccuracies or stock outs

· Continual Master Data management through ERP/MRP as well as Excel based BI reports

· Balance vendor stocking program levels based on MRP output, work with vendors to ensure compliance to agreements and leadtime accuracy

· Daily reconciliation of vendor invoices through ERP software

· Report and track material defects, outstanding and overdue delivery of orders, warranty claims, and damage during transport through vendor scorecards, regular review of scorecards with vendors with a continuous improvement mindset

· Creation of training documents, work instructions and SOP

· Coordinate new packaging testing with production, sales and marketing, ensure accracy and timeliness of BOMs and master data

· Preparation of reports and statistics related to the purchasing functions

· Assist as needed with other general projects and meetings

· Provide continuous improvement strategies/methods to ensure positive progress in any and all aspects of material flow and inventory control throughout Operations

· Support Operations with purchases of MRO and maintenance items

· Cross train to backup buyer functions at the Nisku and Vanco facilities

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

· 2-5 years experience in business admin or procurement role

· Post secondary education relating to Business or Supply Chain Management

· SCMP/PMM/CPP/APICS certifcations considered an asset

· Intermediate to advanced Excel skills

· Previous experience with ERP, MRP and/or planning tools

· Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

· Ability to flourish in a fast paced and dynamic business environment

· Strong analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills

· Strong work ethic and a self starter

· Travel is minimal, with the ability to travel internationally via air travel

Exertion of physical strength to push, pull, move and lift objects up to 50 pounds from one level to another at varying heights. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Must possess the ability to read, analyze and interpret business and technical documents, flow charts, budget information, procedure manuals and so on; the ability to prepare required routine reports and correspondence; ability to communicate effectively with others, using skill and diplomacy and have the ability to work with all levels of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Must possess the ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide, using whole numbers/decimals and the ability to apply concepts of business math and statistics to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITIES:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram format. Must possess strong knowledge, understanding and experience in various problem-solving and participatory management techniques.

TECHNICIAL ABILITIES:

Must possess knowledge and experience in automated systems and terminology and the ability to develop and interpret related reports using ERP, spreadsheet, word processing and graphics software. Requires the ability to operate a variety of standard business machines, such as a computer and keyboard, a calculator, telephone, FAX, photocopier and so on.

All staff are responsible to report food safety and quality problems to personnel with authority to initiate action.

In the event key personnel responsible for this role are unavailable, an appropriately trained backup has been assigned to cover the duties to ensure the integrity of the SQF System.
