What are the responsibilities and job description for the Customer Experience and School Representative position at The Loft Violin Shop?
Overview:
- Part Time: Approximately 20-30 hours a week, some event availability required (recruitment season, for example), potential for more hours in the future
- Schedule: Wednesday-Friday (hours vary), Saturday availability required
- Starting Wages: $17/hour
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree music, communications, marketing, or relevant experience
- Background in music performance and/or music education is preferred
- Experience with orchestral string instruments is preferred (violin, viola, cello, bass)
- Retail/customer service experience required
- Basic computer skills (macOS, Google Suite: Gmail, Google Drive, etc.)
- Strong organizational skills, planning capabilities, and attention to detail
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to solve problems
- Able to work well in a team-oriented environment, personable nature
- Self-motivated and timely
- Valid driver’s license and good driving record
- Ability to drive shop-owned vehicles for several hours at a time
- Ability to comfortably navigate stairs and lift up to 50 pounds
Position Description:
- Customer Experience:
- Assist customers in a variety of capacities including but not limited to: new rentals, instrument selection, basic care instruction, rental instrument maintenance, and product information
- Answer phones in a pleasant and professional manner, taking appointments and answering/ directing questions
- Assist in maintaining shop Gmail inbox
- Assist in record keeping
- Understand and effectively communicate with customers on the products and services offered at The Loft Violin Shop
- Ensure a positive and friendly customer experience
- School Representative:
- Act as a point of contact for all orchestra teachers in your assigned school districts
- Visit each school within your assigned school districts as requested by the school teacher or a Loft customer for size exchanges, repair pickups, accessory deliveries, etc.
- Adequately prepare for your assigned school routes by preparing paperwork, organizing necessary pickups and drop offs, and preparing any requested instruments and accessories
- Professionally maintain regular communication with each of your districts’ teachers via email
- Understand and effectively communicate with teachers and students the products and services offered at The Loft Violin Shop
- Ensure a positive and friendly experience
- Outreach Events:
- Assist in off-site (and occasionally after hours) events including:
- School recruitment meetings/ fittings
- Instrument “petting zoos”
The Loft Violin Shop is a family owned orchestral string instrument shop, serving Central Ohio for over 45 years. We focus on orchestral instrument sales, rentals, and repairs.
