What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cargo Movements General Clerk III position at The Logistics Company?
SUMMARY:
The Cargo Movement General Clerk III LH shall provide freight services to include the operation of a Central Receiving and Shipping Point and all administrative and managerial responsibilities associated with the process of outbound freight shipments, unit moves, and shipping of hazardous and sensitive materials in accordance with DTR 4500.9-R Part II, and AR 525-93.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinating with the customer to obtain the information necessary to properly complete the shipping documents when information is missing, incorrect, or incomplete.
- Review hazardous documentation for proper classification, packaging, labeling and certification in accordance with DTR 4500.9-R Part II, IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations, and 49 CFR.
- Verify all aspects of hazardous material shipping in accordance with Shipper’s Declaration of Dangerous Goods, DoD 4500.9-R, and 49 CFR. May have to certify shipments as required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Essential:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must have a hazardous material certification.
- Specialized knowledge of various travel entitlements, policies and procedures.
- Knowledge to plan and accomplish a variety of complex work assignments and/or identify problems and be able to analyze and resolve
- Organization skills to prioritize and perform multiple tasks with little or no supervision.
- Intuitive, interpretive, and analytical comprehension to rapidly identify and resolve problems. Follow all Safety Regulation

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time, talk on the telephone, work on a computer for extended periods of time, and lift and carry up to 20 pounds on a regular basis. Must possess visual acuity to review written documentation; ability to hear and understand speech at normal room levels and on the telephone; and the manual dexterity to operate a cell phone, handheld radio, telephone, and keyboard.
WORK ENVIRONMENT/HOURS:
This position is not eligible for remote work, as the essential functions of the role require the employee to perform duties on-site. Job is performed indoors. Job is performed with exposure to computer screens and requires extensive use of a computer, keyboard, mouse, and multi-line telephone system. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Job will require working flexible hours, sometimes under short notice, to accommodate for mission requirements to include weekends and holidays. Overtime may be required.
