Job Description:


The Material Handling Laborer Hazmat will perform physical tasks to process, transport, or store materials or merchandise. Moves and stores various non-hazardous and hazardous materials within a warehouse. Must have the training, skills, and knowledge to receive, perform warehousing/storage functions (such as identification, segregation, pick, stow, etc.), issue, and prepare for shipment of hazardous and nonhazardous materials. Requires successful completion of OSHA compliance training and Hazardous Materials Preparer Certification IAW Defense Transportation Regulation (DTR) Part II, Cargo Movement, Chapter 204-7, Training, DLAI 4145.3 and 49 CFR Part 172.700.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs receipt, inspection, inventory, condition code classification, storage, issue, packing, and shipment of equipment, material, and supplies, including hazardous material.
  • Processes material and equipment by utilizing DLA furnished SOPs, WMS computer systems, and programs.
  • Load and unload varying transport vehicles and equipment with material handling equipment, hand truck, pallet jack, or other equipment.
  • Travels on MHE beyond the establishment's physical location to load or unload merchandise.
  • Stages inbound/outbound material or merchandise.
  • Processes, moves, and stores various non-hazardous and hazardous materials within a warehouse.
  • Adherence to all TLC Policies accessed through Deltek Costpoint via the following path.

  • This position supports the DOD on a federal installation and the candidate must be available to work at the assigned physical location during business hours.

    • 6:30AM-3:00PM (M-F)
    • 7:00AM-3:30PM (M-F)
    • 2:30PM-11:PM (M-F)
    • 5:00AM-1:30PM Saturday

    NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Requirements:


  • EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

    Essential:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have a minimum of 2 years of warehouse experience including operating forklifts.
  • Must be Hazmat Certified with Packing of Hazardous Materials for transportation, Technical Transportation of Hazardous Materials, and DoD Preparation of Hazardous Materials for Transportation (HM00204).
  • Must be computer literate
  • Experience with DSS and other Government Data Systems.
  • Must have the ability to multitask and demonstrate attention to detail.
  • Must be reliable, responsible, and able to fulfill obligations.
  • Possess and maintain a current Forklift Certification

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, comprehend and explain instructions, letters, memos, emails, and correspondence from inside the organization as well as from external sources. Ability to effectively respond, communicate and present information to customers, internal and external, clients and other employees in the organization. Ability to interpret instructions and information and explain to others in the performance of this job in English.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Required to walk, stand, sit and move about the property for long periods of time. Perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling material. Must have the ability to work indoors or outdoors in bad weather. Handle equipment/supplies weighing 30 pounds individually and occasionally items weighing more than 50 pounds with assistance. Must possess visual acuity to review written documentation; ability to hear and understand speech at normal room levels and on the telephone. Wearing of safety equipment (PPE) Personal Protective Equipment is required during all periods of exposure to hazardous conditions.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/HOURS:

This position is not eligible for remote work, as the essential functions of the role require the employee to perform duties on-site. May be exposed to inclement/extreme weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment may vary from moderate to high, depending on location. Job will require working flexible hours, sometimes under short notice, to accommodate for mission requirements to include weekends and holidays. Overtime may be required.

  • Transportation & Access: You must have reliable transportation to and from work and be able to access military installations.
  • Background & Drug Screening: Employment requires passing a background check and pre-employment drug screening. Random drug and alcohol testing may also occur without prior notice.
  • Timesheets: Record your actual work hours daily and ensure your entries are accurate and timely to support smooth operations.
  • Dress & Punctuality: Arrive on time and dress appropriately for your shift.

All employees are required to undergo an initial background investigation as a condition of employment. Additionally, employees may be subject to subsequent background investigations if circumstances warrant, such as the emergence of a need, an issue, or probable cause.

Employees assigned to work on federal installations or projects must also comply with government-mandated background investigations, which are conducted independently of the company's investigations. Employment and continued assignment to federal installations are contingent upon successfully meeting and maintaining these requirements.
