Reports to: Middle School Division Head
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develops curriculum materials, including course outlines, syllabi, and other
instructional materials - Carries out all responsibilities associated with teaching the assigned classes
- Conducts after-school tutorials as scheduled
- Participates in department, faculty, team, and grade-level meetings as called
- Ensures that students adhere to The Lovett School behavioral guidelines
- Is involved in the life of the school outside of the classroom
- Fulfills additional duties as assigned
Position Requirements:
- Candidates should have experience teaching middle school Latin and should understand the unique needs of a student that age
- The drive, organization, and flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment, contributing to the school community beyond the classroom
- Excellent written and oral communication skills to facilitate effective communication with students, parents, colleagues, and supervisors
- Employment of a variety of techniques, including the meaningful use of technology and familiarity with comprehensible input, to engage students and further their critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity
- A strong desire to work in a collaborative learning community, employing a growth mindset
- Desire and ability to develop an atmosphere of trust and knowledge of students as individuals
- Demonstrated flexibility and responsiveness to a variety of learning styles and across a range of abilities
- Ethical behavior, professionalism, and respect for diversity
- Regular and reliable attendance
