What are the responsibilities and job description for the Theater Box Office Coordinator position at The Mahaffey Theater?
The Box Office Coordinator assists the Director of Ticketing with day-to-day operations of the box office at the Duke Energy Center for the Arts – Mahaffey Theater. The position assists with ticket operations, customer service, utilizes Ticketmaster/Archtics software for all event creations and reports, and assists with supervision of the Box Office staff.
This position requires open availability including working nights, weekends and select holidays for performances and events.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assists with supervision of Box Office staff, including hiring, training, and scheduling.
- Responsible for cash handling and box office controls.
- Provides frontline support and ongoing training to box office ticket selling staff.
- Assists with reporting needs to ensure the proper use of the ticketing system.
- Manage customer service issues regarding tickets during all events.
- Provide outstanding customer service.
- Open and/or close Box Office ticket window as required.
- Accurately dispense tickets as requested by patrons; accepts payment and makes change accurately.
- Maintain accurate count and record of cash received when selling hard tickets or access computer for count of computer printed tickets.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 1 year prior ticket sales or ticket office experience required.
- Cash Handling experience is an asset.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Minimum 1 year of supervisory experience.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 applications including Excel, Word and Outlook.
- Prior Ticketmaster experience and/or proficient experience working in another ticketing system.
- Detail oriented with excellent organization skills and the ability to prioritize and tackle tasks independently.
- Capable of working flexible hours including days, nights, weekends, and selected holidays.
