Position Summary
The summer nursing role is responsible for the health and safety of all campers and staff. This position requires providing medical and health care to all members of the camp community, providing documentation, distributing medication, and communication with camp staff and parents. Applicants must hold a valid Ohio LPN or RN license. This position requires a person with a variety of skills and the ability to transition from one situation to another quickly and intuitively while also showing compassion and empathy for campers and staff.
Contract Date Options:
Full Summer: June 8-August 8
There are several sessions so if candidate is not available for all sessions, the role can be divided.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a positive role model in the camp community and represent camp values
- Dispense medications and administer First Aid
- Manage a daily sick call log and maintain health logs for campers and staff
- Provide training and resources for the staff to ensure the health and safety of the camp community
- Communicate with Directors, supervisors, and staff to monitor and support the health, safety, and well-being of campers
- Communication with parents about camper health and wellness as requested
- Perform other related duties as assigned by Camp Director
Qualifications:
- Applicants must hold a valid Ohio LPN or RN license.
- Previous experience in a school or camp setting, or similar environment is preferred
- Experience with children and young adults
- Must be able to think critically and act swiftly in high stress situations
- Attention to detail in documentation and maintaining records
- Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and comfort in communicating with children, young adults, and parents
- Must be caring, empathetic, patient, hard working, and diligent professional who takes initiative and is creative, enthusiastic, open-minded and high-energy
- Must have ability to function both independently and as part of a team
SALARY RANGE: Summer stipend commensurate to credentials, skills, and, experience.
