What are the responsibilities and job description for the J Day Camps Site Director position at THE MANDEL JEWISH COMMUNITY CENTER?
The Site Director of J-Day Camps plays a key role within the year-round leadership team for the Camping and Youth Department. This role oversees the daily operations of J-Day Camps, working closely with the Department Director, internal teams, and community partners to deliver mission-driven programming for campers and youth services. This role is the site director of J Day Camp at Halle Park in Geauga County.

Program Development:
- Work closely with Director, Day Camps & Youth Services to develop both short- and long-term program goals across the camping department.
- Collaborate with leadership to design, implement, and manage new programs for camp.
- Assist and work closely with Director, Day Camps & Youth Services in creation, coordination, and implementation of all camp programming, ensuring engaging specialty tracks, structured schedules, and exciting events.
- Develop curriculum for specialty areas and oversee lesson plans for program coordinators and specialists to enhance program quality.
- Manage planning for off-site trips and special events, ensuring seamless execution.
- Partner with the Aquatics Director and Director, Day Camps & Youth Services to oversee swim programming, ensuring instruction quality and adherence to safety standards.
Business Management
- Ensures all financial activities meet the guidelines established by the Mandel JCC Fiscal
- Works closely with Director, Day Camps & Youth Services to monitors revenues and expenses to ensure financial goals are
- Manages all vendor relationships as assigned, in coordination with Program Director.
- Coordinates and provides daily management of all systems and procedures of registration and camp administration (paperwork, parent communication, carpool, shuttle, registration, payment systems, )
- Assists with the ACA Accreditation process as needed.
Site Management
- Advises Mandel JCC management of any significant issues regarding physical plant and changes or additions that are required to attract and retain participants at Halle Park.
- Supervise J Day Camp Aquatics Director, ensuring that all safety requirements are met at the lake and at the pool and that swim lessons are appropriately implemented with weekly communication to parents on individual camper’s swim progress.
- Oversee all camp site opening and closing tasks. Ensure all supplies and equipment are stored properly and maintained throughout the year.
- Conduct post-camp evaluations, collecting feedback from campers, staff, and parents to identify areas for improvement.
- Prepare detailed end-of-season reports for stakeholders, summarizing outcomes and recommendations for the next season.
- Lead strategic planning efforts for the upcoming season, setting goals for recruitment, programming, and staff development.
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure adherence to ACA standards and ODJFS regulations, maintaining the highest level of safety and program quality.
- Collaborate with Camp Director to Implement risk management strategies to proactively address safety concerns.
- Collaborate with staff to review and improve health and safety protocols during swim programs and off-site trips.
- Manage conflict resolution among staff and campers, ensuring issues are resolved promptly and professionally.
- Lead crisis management efforts, developing action plans for emergencies and ensuring the safety and well-being of campers and staff.
- Work closely with Mandel JCC Director of Security and Halle Park Security Guards to ensure the highest level of safety and security at Halle Park.
- Prioritizing the safety and security of all staff and participants
- Submit all incident reports within 24 hours
- In collaboration with the J Day Camp leadership team develops appropriate contingency plans for unexpected emergencies including not limited to AQI, health both physical and mental, weather etc.
- Ensures EVAC plan reviewed and updated annually.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Recreation Sciences, Outdoor Recreation, Sports Management or a related
- 3 of management/supervisory experience and camp leadership experience or equivalent.
- Knowledge of Jewish culture, values, and cultural practices. (preferred not required).
- Proven experience in customer service management and quality service delivery.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite.
- Ability to work nights and weekends, flexible scheduling depending on departmental
- Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods of
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
