The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission, Department of Parks and Recreation, Prince George’s County, has openings for Group Fitness Instructors on the Special Programs Division (SPD), Health and Wellness Team.
The Health and Wellness Team develops and implements health and wellness programs and initiatives to create healthier communities. Our programs seek to be culturally competent and diverse, promote a healthy lifestyle for residents and connect residents to parks, through programs, initiatives and outreach events.

Fitness Instructors ($16.00 - $30.00 per hour)* based on experience and qualifications. *Final rate determined by Classification & Compensation Office.
Instructor and trainer positions are located countywide with programs including Fitness in the Parks, Yoga in the Parks, the Get Fit Mobile unit, and the evidence-based programs Fit & Strong and Walk With Ease. Work schedule may include a variety of shifts including evenings and weekends. Qualified instructors will teach line dancing, Zumba®, cross training, full body sculpt, boot camp, family fitness, Tai Chi or Yoga classes. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age. Instructors must have a valid certification in their discipline, a valid CPR/First Aid certification.
Perspective candidates should successfully demonstrate the below skills:
Group Fitness Candidates:
Ability to set up, and facilitate as the lead of a formatted class with varying skill levels dealing with overall fitness performance related to one of the following disciplines: Zumba, Full Body Sculpt, Tai Chi, Yoga, Senior Fitness etc.
Will be evaluated on a class demonstration within a 15-minute time frame by onsite fitness/recreation professionals
Candidates must be at least 18 years of age and have a valid certification in their discipline. Must also possess a valid CPR/First Aid certification.
Interview with a Health & Wellness Specialist
Positions are located county-wide. These positions are Seasonal/part-time and do not include a benefit package. Hourly rate is based on experience.
Must successfully pass a complete background investigation prior to hire.
May be subject to medical, drug and alcohol testing.
