If you answered yes, the Prince George's County Department of Parks and Recreation has an exciting summer employment opportunity for you! Disability Services supports participants to learn, engage, and have fun in summer camp programs. Work opportunities are available Monday through Friday and throughout Prince George’s County.
Program Access supports people with disabilities to participate in summer camp programs with their peers. Camps generally occur on weekdays from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, with extended care from 7:00 am to 9:00 am and 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Program locations and assignments are subject to change based on program needs.
To thrive in this position, you must be willing to actively participate in all program activities, assist with the adaptation of activities, and help facilitate social interaction between participants. Effectively communicating with supervisors, staff, participants, and parents/guardians is extremely important. All selected candidates must provide excellent customer service and must maintain confidentiality regarding disability, medical, and personal information.
Ideal candidates will have experience working in recreation programs, working in childcare or education programs, or supporting children or adults with disabilities. Starting positions and pay rates are based on age and previous experience. Please provide examples of past experience in your application.

Inclusion Aide $16.75 - $17.25
Provide support to individuals with disabilities to be included in general recreational programs with their peers. Actively participates in all program activities, assists with the adaptation of activities, and helps to facilitate social interactions. Advocates for the full inclusion of participants within the program. Must have a desire and interest in working with people with disabilities. Minimal related experience required. Minimum age 16.
Inclusion Support Staff I $17.75 - $18.25
Provides support to individuals with disabilities to be included in general recreational programs with their peers. Actively participates in all program activities, assists with the adaptation of activities, and helps to facilitate social interactions. Advocates for the full inclusion of participants within the program. Minimum age 18. Requires high school diploma and one year experience working with persons with disabilities or two or more years of work-related disability experience.
Inclusion Support Staff II $19.25 - $19.75
Provides support to individuals with disabilities to be included in general recreational programs with their peers. Maintains documentation and implements behavior plans as needed. Advocates for the full inclusion of participants within the program. Minimum age 19. Requires two years of college in related field and one year experience working with persons with disabilities or four or more years of related disability experience.
Inclusion Support Staff III $20.75 -$21.75
Provides support to individuals with disabilities to be included in general recreational programs with their peers. Assists in development of behavior management plans; implements behavior management plans and provides documentation as required. Conducts sensitivity awareness activities and training on site as required. Advocates for the full inclusion of participants within the program. Requires four years of college in a related field or two years of college plus three years of experience working with persons with disabilities or six or more years of related disability experience.
Sign Language Support $19.25 - $46*
Provide effective sign language interpretation for Deaf or hard of hearing participants. Provide necessary assistance and adaptations, actively participates in all programs and helps to facilitate social interaction. Minimum requirement, HS diploma plus 1 year of signing.
*Salary depends on experience and certification of signing fluency. You must pass a Sign Language fluency test to work in this position.
All selected applicants must attend mandatory trainings: CPR, First Aid and AED; Inclusion/ Therapeutic Recreation Orientation; Disability Characteristics; Behavior Management techniques; and other designated trainings.
These positions are part-time/intermittent and do not include a benefits package. A complete background investigation will be completed prior to hire. Applicants may be subject to medical, drug (including marijuana), and alcohol testing.
