What are the responsibilities and job description for the Kitchen Steward position at The Mather?
We are an award-winning employer seeking a Utility Steward/Dishwasher to play a key role in kitchen operations within our luxury senior living residence. You’ll support our culinary team by maintaining cleanliness of kitchen equipment, China and glassware, and flatware, as well as the back-of-housework area. You’ll also handle special projects, which may include helping in our restaurants if required. In addition to a great workplace culture, we provide a competitive hourly rate and additional on-the-job perks.
This position is part-time, Friday and Saturday 2:00pm-10:00pm, Sunday 12:00pm-8:00pm. Holiday availability required.
A kitchen Steward Maintains cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen, equipment, supplies, pots/pans, small wares, china, glass and silver contributing to a safe environment and pleasurable dining experience for residents, family members, guests and staff. Creates meaningful moments in the lives of residents, visitors, and staff by demonstrating EMI (eliminating my impossibilities) behaviors.

The Mather is a Life Plan Community for those age 62 and better located in Evanston, Illinois, close to the charming downtown district and an abundance of public transportation. The Mather includes 240 independent living apartment homes, as well as assisted living, memory care, long-term care, and rehabilitation services, along with multiple restaurants, a fitness center, art studio, gardens, and more.
