Job Summary: Mayhew’s camp nurse oversees the health and safety of campers and staff by operating the Health Center, conducting first-day camper health checks, looking after ill or injured campers & staff, organizing & administering medications, organizing and maintaining the Health Center & camp first-aid kits, and keeping records of camper visits. Additionally, the camp nurse will need to be prepared to take the lead in managing the response to any potential health emergency/accident/injury at camp.

- Residential full-time seasonal exempt position from June 20-July 13, 2025 (First Session) and July 18-August 10, 2025 (Second Session).
- Required to live at camp while boys are in residence and work 6 days per week.
- Salary will range from $1,300-$1,600 per week, depending on experience.

Key responsibilities:
- Ensure that each staff member & camper has a health history and examination form on file.
- Provide health screenings for all campers on the opening day of each session.
- Administer both over the counter and prescription medications to campers and staff per written protocol at designated times.
- Care for ill or injured campers and staff.
- Maintain accurate and up to date records of medication administration as well as illness and injury care delivered to campers and staff.
- Utilize approved standing orders as necessary.
- Report illness, injury or abuse to proper authorities, when necessary.
- Maintain a watchful presence to the overall wellness of campers and staff.
- Work directly with Mayhew’s on-call doctor, EMS, fire department and hospital either by phone or in person when such need may arise to attend to the illness or injury of a camper or staff.
- Help set-up, maintain, and ultimately close the Health Center
- Assist with other day-to-day tasks as necessary.
Qualifications:
- Must be authorized as provided in New Hampshire law to work as a registered nurse (RN), licensed practical nurse (LPN), advanced practice registered nurse (APRN), or physician’s assistant (PA).
- Current CPR/AED/First-Aid Certifications.
- Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record (to potentially transport children for additional care)
- Summer camp, pediatrics, emergency room, or school nursing experience is a plus.
- The ability to relate effectively to children, parents and college-age staff is essential.
