Summary: The Trucking Manager is responsible for overseeing the TMC Trucking Division, ensuring the safe, legal, and efficient transport of crop inputs, farm deliveries, and third-party freight shipments across the Northwest.
This role involves managing the division’s assets, personnel, and logistics, including drivers, mechanics, and office staff, while maintaining a high level of compliance, safety, and operational efficiency. The TMC Trucking Division plays a critical role in distributing products to retail branches, making direct farm deliveries, and hauling for outside vendors.
The Trucking Manager will lead efforts to optimize trucking operations, maintain regulatory compliance, and build strong relationships within the company and with external partners. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: * Serve as a backup dispatcher for a multi-location fleet as needed. * Manage and coordinate local and regional trucking operations. * Supervise internal shipments within the company and ensure efficient load sourcing during seasons. * Dispatch and scheduling to communicate with drivers and customers about load details. * Ensure timely and safe transportation of agricultural commodities, including fertilizers and chemicals. * Work with outside vendors to secure additional hauling work in the slow season. * Maintain compliance with DOT rules, permitting, weights, and Hours of Service regulations. * Monitor fleet performance, fuel usage, and maintenance schedules to maximize efficiency. * Maintain a professional appearance and uphold company values, teamwork, and cooperation. * Work closely with the leadership team to align with company goals and strategies. * Communicate effectively with all members of the supply chain, including Business Unit Managers and Service Managers. * Relay information clearly and efficiently across all teams. * Manage repair expenses (both internal and external) and ensure cost-effective maintenance. * Promote and maintain a safe and well-kept work environment. * Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local transportation regulations. * Enforce safety procedures for handling products. Supervisory Responsibilities: * Oversee a team of 20-25 employees, including drivers, mechanics, and office staff. Education/Experience: * High school diploma or GED (required). * Previous supervisory experience is a plus. * Strong computer skills * Strong leadership, problem-solving, and organizational abilities. * Familiarity with DOT, EPA, and agricultural transportation regulations. Requirements: * Candidates must be legally employable by a U.S. business. * Class A CDL (required). * Must have a clean driving record.
