Job description
The MCS Group, Inc. is looking for an experienced legal records leader with a proven history of accurate record-keeping and document management. We are looking for someone who is familiar with various record software. The ideal candidate will possess an Information governance certification. The candidate will be expected to supervise our record staff members. The leader will be responsible for further developing and adhering to the firm's retention policies, including maintaining an organized filing system. The expectation of the role is to be the subject matter expert reviewing files to determine appropriate next steps. The expectation for the role is to guide the decisions adhering to the firm's retention and destruction policies ensuring files are compliant with confidential information and legal requirements. Legal Records Manager Responsibilities
- Organize our database of documents and maintain our filing system.
- Ensure confidentiality of documents is maintained and track chain of custody.
- Adhere to the most current policy regarding destruction or document retention.
- Review files and their contents to confirm the best location and enter information into the database.
- Review of Storage Invoices to account for all monthly actions.
- Bi-Annual Retention Audit to account for Storage of Firms Material.
- Familiar with applicable laws, regulations, and firm policies.
- Consistent Education of Information Governance.
- Communicate your processes across the business.
- Must have technical background to support data entry and firms’ software.
- Manage staff of three file clerks, incorporate monthly training, execute performance reviews, recognize achievements with entire staff.
Legal Records Manager Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent is required. I prefer a college degree.
- Prior experience working in a law firm file room is vital - previous experience as a legal assistant, paralegal, or project manager is helpful.
- Must have a proven record of organizational and archiving skills.
- Excellent computer skills are necessary, as well as experience maintaining a database.
