Job Opening: Pharmacy Order Entry Technician
Location: 1101 Parkway View Drive, Pittsburgh PA 15205
Status: Full-time
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, (8:30am - 5:00pm), with weekend shifts only as needed
As an Order Entry Technician you will be accountable for interpreting prescriptions, keying data into electronic format through the pharmacy filling system and providing timely and accurate claim adjudication. Typical responsibilities associated with the position are:
- Read and review prescriptions; enter prescription data into the pharmacy filling system
- Interpret medical abbreviations
- Troubleshoot pharmacy orders from facilities to obtain missing information
- Record communication concerning orders within patient records
- Maintain electronic documentation related to orders within patient profiles
- Provide customer service to callers regarding orders
- Assists with claim billing and adjudication to third party payers

In addition to being thorough, attentive to detail, communicates effectively, and highly accurate the successful candidate for this position must also have the following qualifications:
- Previous work experience in pharmacy setting required, experience with order entry preferred
- Active Pharmacy Technician Certification or postsecondary education in pharmacy technician program preferred
- Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate computer keyboard, mouse, and handle other computer components
- Intermediate computer/keyboard skills
- Ability to read and decipher written medical documents with speed and accuracy
Prior to beginning work, successful applicants must complete a background check consisting of criminal records check, Medicare/Medicaid exclusions check, employment verification, education verification, drug test, licensure/certification verification, and DMV motor vehicle record check, as applicable.
