Title: Inventory Accountant

SUMMARY: Responsible for completing tasks in the following functional areas: production, shipping, Finished Goods inventory controls and all financial policy compliance. This position will sustain the Mission and Motto and Food Safety and Quality Statement of the Mennel Milling Company.
PRIMARY WORK SHIFT: Works shift as assigned and overtime as required.
Monday through Friday 8AM – 5PM. Will vary, depending on workload.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Follow all food and personal safety rules and regulations in respect to GMP’s, OSHA, HACCP, the Global Food Safety Initiative, the US FDA Food Safety Modernization Act as stated in the FS&Q Statement, and sanitation guidelines as set forth by the company as listed in Corporate Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) and attend all required training sessions. Maintain the department/facility in an everyday audit ready condition.
- Lead preparation and reconciliations associated with the physical inventory processes in production and outbound shipments. Discrepancies to be communicated to warehouse management for follow-up.
- Identify areas of risk or opportunity and implement new internal controls to improve warehouse inventory variances. Monitor results and compliance.
- Documenting and controlling aged & damaged product. Record and monitor all items with shelf-life and notify appropriate personnel when material has expired. Manage all scrap removal from premises.
- Create and maintain metric reporting and manage root cause analysis for corrective action. Track and report the results on a regular basis.
- Collaborate with cross functional departments to drive process improvements and identify inventory procedural gaps.
- Create and modify Standard Operating Procedures for processes involving inventory control when necessary.
- Ensure that inventory control processes and policies are followed and understood.
- Prepare and participate in quarterly and yearly physical inventory. Monitor results and compliance to the cycle counting process.
- Other duties may be assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position has no supervisory duties.
QUALIFICATIONS:

- A minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent required; a 2-year college degree or technical school course work preferred.
- Minimum of five years of job-related experience, preferably in a finance department; or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Extensive knowledge of computer software (Microsoft D365), computer hardware and computer servers.
- High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation.
- Ability to operate most standard office equipment.
- Attention to detail in composing, typing, and proofing materials, establishing priorities, and meeting deadlines.
- Good to excellent spelling, grammar, and written communication skills.
- Excellent telephone and oral communication skills.
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, memos, procedures, and plans. Ability to write, complete checklists and other basic documentation and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information or data in one-on-one and small group situations to co-workers, supervisors, and managers.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
REASONING ABILITY:
Must use solid judgment when making decisions. Must have ability to quickly recognize and plan for changing work duties and events.
