Summary Description :
The Communications and Development Manager joins Greater Mental Health of New York at an exciting point in our nearly 80-year history of providing mental health services and support throughout Westchester and Rockland counties. On the heels of our expansive merger and rebranding in 2024, the Manager plays a vital role in advancing the agency's strategic vision through communications and marketing initiatives. The Manager helps broadens Greater Mental Health of New York's reach and elevates community awareness through creative and consistent communications that amplify our mission, inspire engagement, and educate audiences. Key areas of responsibility include shaping and leading our online presence via social media strategy, eblasts, website content, and targeted advertising. The Manager also works closely with staff across the agency to create and edit program-specific marketing materials; internal / external newsletters and eblasts; and fundraising collateral. This position also provides behind-the-scenes and hands-on support for community and fundraising events.
Key Responsibilities : Increase brand awareness :
Manage social media channels and create all digital content, including text, graphics, and video; monitor engagement and analytics to track trends and inform strategyShape and oversee enhanced marketing and advertising strategyWrite and pitch press releases and other media and community engagement materials as neededDrive attendees to community eventsSupport lead conversion to increase number of donors / funds raised
Coordinate, write, design and disseminate materials such as :
External digital communications (e.g. e-blasts for community events and trainings; agency announcements; donor appeals)Flyers and brochures (e.g. new services, updating materials, event promotion)Internal communications (e.g. quarterly e-newsletter and weekly e-blast)Draft other external communications as needed, including communication to clients
Provide critical support (preparation and day-of-assistance) for events, including Community Conversations, annual Gala, and other events that build community awarenessCreate and implement content changes on website in a timely fashionKey Competencies :
A passion for creating greater access to affordable mental health and substance use treatment and recovery servicesA flair for creative, clear and concise communications and a passion for brandingSuccess managing social media channels and creating content to drive engagementStrong creative skills, including experience with graphic design (Canva)Experience with website content management / editing (Wordpress preferable) and email marketing platforms (Robly, Mailchimp, etc.)High level of comfort with learning new systems and technologiesExcellent organizational and planning skills with strong attention to detail.Self-motivated with a positive and collaborative approach to workAbility to manage multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining flexibility when needed for specific deadlinesComfort and success in working both independently and as a member of a small teamKey Performance Indicators (KPIs) :

Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations or a related field preferred3 - 5 years of related experience in communications, PR, marketing, or social media management, preferably in a non-profit settingExcellent organizational and planning skillsA strong writer with an eye for design and brandingAdvanced skills in Microsoft Office preferred, including TeamsLegally eligible to work in the United States without sponsorshipSpecial Considerations
Work schedule :
100% onsite for first 90 days of employmentEligible for hybrid work schedule (at least three days on-site) after successful 90-day evaluation
