What are the responsibilities and job description for the Piano Teacher position at THE MERAKI CENTER?
The Meraki Center in Oxford, MA is a music and music therapy studio for all ages. We have developed a live music program for very young children, piano classes for 3-5 year olds, piano classes for ages 5 and individual lessons for piano and guitar for ages 13 through adult. We use a unique method for music education that supports and inspires every student, while engaging our students in their lessons in a fun and inspiring manner.Role Des criptionThis is a part-time, on-site role located in Oxford, MA for a Piano Teacher. As a Piano Teacher at THE MERAKI CENTER, you will be responsible for teaching students 1 : 1 from beginner to advanced, ages 13 . In addition, you may be asked to teach groups of up to 6 students at the beginner to advanced beginner level - mostly children aged 5-13. We currently incorporate a digital method which includes music and theory lessons that you would be required to learn for group lessons (we train). In addition, you would be required to evaluate student progress, and communicate with parents or guardians (where applicable) regarding progress and performance. You will also be expected to establish a positive and encouraging learning environment, and actively contribute to the musical community at THE MERAKI CENTER.QualificationsPrevious experience teaching piano lessons to students of all levels, ages, and backgrounds is preferred but not requiredMust be proficient in music, with an intermediate-advanced understanding of the pianoMust be able to teach all genres, especially JAZZProficient in music theory, sight-reading, ear training and piano techniqueExcellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect and engage with students of all ages and backgroundsPassion for music education and a commitment to providing high-quality instruction to studentsAbility to create a welcoming, encouraging, and safe environment for students to learn and grow as musiciansWillingness to work collaboratively with other music instructors and staff members to contribute to the overall success of the music program at THE MERAKI CENTER
