The Accounting Manager/Assistant Controller position is open due to growth, and is working with a fantastic leadership group. Ideally this person will have a strong corporate background, and a system savviness to assist in spearheading new system implementations, and reporting. This is a dynamic role, with a ton of growth potential.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensures the timely and accurate reporting of all financial information, including monthly, quarterly and year-end close.
- Meetings accounting financial objectives by forecasting requirements, preparing an annual budget, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances and initiates corrective actions.
- Develops accounting principles, procedures and work ethics in the organization to be followed by all the accounting staff.
- Manages the accounting staff to ensure all the work is completed accurately and within stipulated deadlines.
- Maintains accounting controls by establishing a chart of accounts; defines accounting policies and procedures.
- Confirms financial status by monitoring revenue and expenses; coordinates the collection, consolidation and evaluation of financial data and prepares special reports.
- Guides other departments by researching and interpreting accounting policy; applies observations and recommendations to operational issues.
- Ensures the accurate and timely processing of positive pay transactions.
- Ensures the monthly and quarterly bank compliance activities are performed in a timely and accurate manner.
- Supports budget and forecasting activities.
- Monitors and analyzes department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
- Responds to inquiries from the managers regarding financial results, special reporting requests, etc.
- Works with the Corporate Controller to ensure a clean and timely year-end audit.
- Assists in development and implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the workflow of the department.
- Provides training to new and existing staff, as needed.
- Other assignments as required.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business Finance, Economics or related field
- 3 years prior supervisory experience in the financial reporting/general ledger area
- Proficient in computer software such as Great Plains or NetSuite, Concur, Microsoft Office (Advanced Excel, Word)
- Implementation of NetSuite(preferred)
- Knowledge of specialized functions of accounting and financial management
- CPA preferred
Salary : $115,000 - $135,000
