Job Title: Mechanical Engineer - Harness Design
Location: Newark, CA (Onsite Role)
This is a contract position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with fellow engineers to generate concepts for harness routing and packaging.
- Transform concepts into finished designs, producing detailed drawings and CAD models.
- Conduct engineering analyses to ensure components meet durability, manufacturability, and cost requirements.
- Engage with suppliers to achieve cost-effective solutions, procure prototype parts, and organize tooling schedules.
- Travel to vehicle builds to gather feedback on manufacturing processes; travel to suppliers as needed.
- Collaborate with validation engineers to establish test plans based on durability and functionality requirements.
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical engineering is required.
- Proven experience in designing brackets, snap-fits, living hinges, and both plastic and metal fasteners is necessary.
- The ability to perform stress, torque, and tolerance analyses through hand calculations and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) is essential.
- Proficiency in Dassault 3D Experience for geometric surface and part design is required.
- A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering is mandatory.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Full lifecycle experience in automotive programs is desired.
- Familiarity with harness routing strategies used by various OEMs is beneficial.
- Experience in designing electrical components, such as connectors and terminals, is advantageous.
- A portfolio showcasing a strong engineering mindset and analytical capabilities is highly valued.
