Description
Serve as principal accountant for designated development projects including ground up construction. Responsibilities include various tasks integral to the closing process, including bank reconciliations, preparation of workpapers, preparation and analysis of financial statements, and performance of other record keeping necessary for monitoring the financial performance of the portfolio. Assist VP of construction accounting in overseeing project contracting accounting, & invoicing.
Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly closings and Financial Statements: analyze P&L and Balance Sheet accounts, prepare corresponding schedules and month end closing entries for residential and commercial properties under development.
- Manage capital funds allocation: prepare and submit monthly escrow draws, update capital funds schedules, process related documentation.
- Monitor daily cash flow and prepare cash forecasting reports.
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations for operation, capital, and escrow accounts.
- Analyze expenses and ensure that they are recorded properly in accordance with project budgets.
- Make sure that financial reports are completed in a timely manner.
- Maintain budgets and variances through Yardi.
- Enter contracts, change orders, and invoices into project / account management software (Yardi).
Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise
We are looking for candidates who are interested in continuing their career in construction project accounting within real estate development from the owner's side. Ideally, candidates should possess the following experience / qualifications:
- 7 to 10 years related experience.
- College education in a related field
- Proficiency with typical construction related accounting software packages (Yardi or equivalent)
- Strong understanding of accounting theory and principles.
- Experience dealing with construction contractors / subcontractor invoices / requisitions.
- Detail oriented with strong organizational and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Effective communication and people skills.
- Knowledge of Yardi Voyager or equivalent accounting software
- Knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Salary : $130,000 - $145,000
