What are the responsibilities and job description for the Conference Specialist - Education position at The Moody Bible Institute?
Under the direct supervision of the Conference Marketing Manager, with a dotted line relationship to the Advanced Global Leadership Studies (CAGL) Director and Center for Compelling Biblical Preaching (CCBP) Director, this position is responsible for directing and organizing events and the joint conference related to both centers for Moody Theological Seminary. This position is funded by grants for both the Center for Advanced Global Leadership Studies and Center for Compelling Preaching.
Essential Functions

- This individual is responsible for the marketing and logistics of Moody Theological Seminary’s CAGLS and CCBP events, including but not limited to:
- Webinars, workshops, and joint conference of the Center for Advanced Global Leadership Studies and the Center for Compelling Biblical Preaching.
- Execution of program elements for MTS events and joint conference, ensuring all elements are on-brand, align with Moody’s doctrine, and provide an excellent experience for attendees.
- Regular and effective communication with contact for each center in regard to their events and joint conference.
- Clear and regular communication in regard to logistics, attendance, and registrations with all key stakeholders.
- Ensure all contracts for speakers, musicians, off-site venues, and other needs are executed in correct and timely manner for all assigned events and conferences.
- Collaborate directly with internal service providers, providing oversight to events and joint conference for the centers, ensuring excellent service and collaboration of all Moody service providers, resulting in meaningful experiences for all attendees.
- Work with CMM Manager and Event Support and Logistics (ESL) team in Facilities to avoid conflicts between Moody’s branded center events and joint conference, Moody’s other conferences and events that are marketed to the public, and internal and external events.
- Under the direction of the CMM Manager, create and execute marketing plans for the events and joint conference for the centers.
- Collaborate with CMM Project Coordinator and Marketing and Strategic Communications (MSC) team to execute marketing plans, including all promotional print and digital assets.
- Ensure all web pages and registration forms are created with timeliness and accuracy.
- Attend and participate in CMM team meetings, model MSC cultural values and behavior, and resolve challenges by meeting as a team or with individuals as needed.
- Attend and participate in CCBP and CAGLS meetings.
- Perform center related and special duties related to the centers as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or a related discipline
- Two years administrative support experience and/or event planning experience and experience developing marketing segmentation strategy for specific audiences.
- Able to work in the US legally without sponsorship

- Excellent inter-personnel and verbal communication skills with ability to act in a mature and professional manner in a wide variety of settings with various groups of people
- Good organizational skills required, with strict attention to details in all tasks
- Desire to participate as a cooperative team player among the CMM staff, MTS staff, and other MBI departments and external clients
- Strong capacity for sales or previous sales experience in a Christian ministry setting.
- Demonstrate willingness to be flexible in approach to and completion of work assignments
- PC proficiency and experience with word-processing, spreadsheets, email, and calendar scheduling required (Microsoft Office programs preferred)
- Ability to multi-task, set priorities, and maintain a positive attitude during times of increased workload and pressure situations
- Ability to work flexible schedule on evenings and weekends as needed to help with center events and conference facilitation
- Five years of background and experience in developing and implementing a market segmentation strategy.

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
This job requires someone who can work in a fast-paced environment, at times spending long hours on their feet. This job requires someone who can answer emails and phone calls. Strong computer skills are a must. Some light to moderate lifting is required from time to time.
This is a full-time position: Monday through Friday, Hours will vary, some weekends and late hours are required. Some Travel is expected for this position.
