The National Center for Outdoor & Adventure Education (NCOAE) is seeking experienced and passionate EMS Instructors to teach in our 21-day Hybrid EMT Training Program. This unique program blends 10 days of virtual instructor-led training (VILT) with 11 days of hands-on, in-person instruction at one of the NCOAE facilities in Idaho.
About the Role
Under the direction of the EMS Program Director, the EMS Instructor will lead Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) training courses, guiding students through both online learning and practical, in-person skill development. Instructors will facilitate high-quality, engaging instruction aligned with the National Registry of EMTs curriculum and support students in mastering essential pre-hospital emergency medical care skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver live virtual instruction for up to 40 students during the 10-day online training phase.
- Conduct hands-on skill labs for 10-25 students during the 11-day in-person session.
- Monitor, assess, and document student progress in both didactic and skills-based training.
- Supervise students during clinical field experiences and technical scope of practice (TSOP) scenarios.
- Adapt instructional methods to meet diverse learning needs and ensure student success.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 2 years of EMS experience (preferred).
- Strong knowledge of the National Registry of EMTs curriculum and EMS best practices.
- Active state EMS credential at or above the level being instructed.
- Ability to obtain a state EMS Instructor credential within one year of hire.
- AHA BLS Instructor certification (or willingness to obtain within one year of hire).
- Experience with online teaching platforms and comfort with technology.
- Passion for EMS education and student success.
- Bilingual candidates (Spanish/French) are encouraged to apply.
Physical Requirements
- Extensive use of computers for virtual instruction.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs of EMS equipment.
