What are the responsibilities and job description for the EXECUTIVE CHEF position at The National Conference Center?
The National Conference Center is one of the largest and most comprehensive conference centers and learning and development campuses in the nation with 917 guestrooms and 270,000 square feet of conference and event space. Located in Leesburg, Virginia along the Potomac River near Washington DC, 20 minutes from Dulles Airport, The National delivers the country’s foremost learning and meeting experience. Our multipurpose venue offers tremendous flexibility to provide the perfect environment for a variety of line level training, executive education, and professional development programs.
Position: We are currently seeking an Executive Chef, preferably with high-end hotel/conference center buffet, catering and restaurant experience. The ideal candidate will be a proactive individual with strong leadership skills for the culinary team, creative and passionate about providing a memorable food experience for our guests. The Executive Chef must possess the ability to develop, plan, cost, execute and deliver menus for the restaurant and Banquet events. A leader with great organizational and people/financial management skills; an eye for the details will set the right candidate up for success.
We prefer candidates with 3 to 5 years of experience and a culinary school education.
Essential Tasks:
- Preparing weekly, monthly and seasonal menus that are innovative and meet the diverse culinary expectations of our guests.
- Ensure that all dishes are prepared according to standard recipes and that plate presentation is consistent.
- Inspire associates on The National’s varied food programs and develop recipes for all cuisines
- Assist Food and Beverage Director with departmental Human Resources functions
- Participate in the property’s “Chef’s Table” which showcases the property to VIPs, clients, and members of the local community.
- Inspect quality of food products and oversee all aspects of daily operations of the food production area
- Maintain food/labor costs to reflect yearly budget
- Update associates on daily forecast so they are prepared to serve quests
- Know and enforce all local health department sanitation laws
