Nature-Based Preschool Helper

Position Summary: A Nature-Based Preschool Helper supports the preschool by providing assistance in various classrooms as needed and helping with day-to-day operations. This role involves aiding in the implementation of the pre-established curriculum, organizing and distributing lunches, preparing snacks, assisting the Lead Teachers, Teachers, Director, and Assistant Director as required, and ensuring that all areas are kept clean and organized. The Helper will help nurture children's curiosity, support their development, and foster a love for nature.

Key Responsibilities:

General Assistance:

• Assist the Lead Teachers, Teachers, Director, and Assistant Director with various tasks and projects as needed.
• Help with setup and takedown of outdoor classroom materials and equipment.
• Participate in community events and field trips as required.
• Encourage parent involvement in outdoor activities and learning experiences.

Daily Operations:

• Organize and distribute lunches to the children.
• Prepare snacks serve snacks at least twice daily.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization in food prep and eating areas.
• Ensure that classrooms, common areas, and outdoor spaces are kept clean and organized.

Classroom Support:

• Assist in various classrooms as needed, supporting the Lead Teachers and Teachers in delivering lessons and activities based on the school’s pre-established nature-based curriculum.
• Help facilitate environmental education, sensory exploration, and outdoor play as outlined in the curriculum.
• Assist in utilizing natural materials and outdoor spaces to enhance learning experiences.
• Supervise and ensure the safety of infants and young children in various outdoor settings.
• Help establish and maintain clear rules and expectations for behavior.
• Promote positive social interactions and conflict resolution among children.

Infant Care:

• Assist in the care and supervision of infants, including feeding, diapering, and ensuring their overall well-being.
• Engage infants in age-appropriate sensory and nature-based activities.

Professional Development:

• Stay informed about current trends and best practices in nature-based education.
• Attend relevant workshops, trainings, and conferences as required.
• Collaborate with colleagues to share resources and strategies.

Requirements:

Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent.

Certifications:

• CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
• Nature-based education training is a plus.

Experience:

• No previous teaching experience required.
• Experience with infants and young children is preferred but not mandatory.

• Stamina to keep up with the energy levels of infants and young children.
• Capability to set up and take down outdoor classroom materials and equipment.
