WHAT WE CAN ACHIEVE TOGETHER
The Ecological Restoration Crew Member performs and participates in preserve operations, stewardship, maintenance, and land management on TNC preserves and partner lands, which are frequented by the visiting public. They will focus on the removal and eradication of non-native, invasive plant species primarily in wetland and riparian habitat to improve ecological condition. They will conduct species and site monitoring, follow management plans, map invasive species infestations using GPS and/or GIS applications, communicate with the public, maintain tools, vehicles, and equipment, and navigate natural areas on foot or with off-road vehicles (ex. Argo amphibious vehicle). They will be responsible for other restoration and stewardship activities as assigned such as prescribed burns, partner work days, outreach and education events. This position may work in variable weather conditions, at remote locations, on difficult and hazardous terrain, and under physically demanding circumstances. Requires considerable physical exertion and/or muscular strain and will be required to work with herbicide. Training and pesticide applicator licensing will be provided.
The Ecological Restoration Crew Member is a 6-month, full-time, short-term position based out of Cuyahoga Valley National Park located near Peninsula, Ohio. The Ecological Restoration Crew Member is part of a 2-person team that supports the implementation of ecological restoration projects throughout Northeast Ohio, with a heavy focus on wetlands within CVNP. Daily activities of the Crew Member will be over seen and directed by the Crooked River CWMA Coordinator. This is primarily a field position working to survey and control invasive species throughout project sites in CVNP and Northeast Ohio through chemical and mechanical applications. Successful applicants will also be responsible for equipment preparation, use, and maintenance; use of GPS unit and related devices; accurate record keeping; communicating with team members and the public; following instructions; autonomous decision making; navigation of natural areas; and other responsibilities as assigned.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING
- High school diploma or GED and 1 year’s training in science-related field or related experience in land management.
- Experience recognizing plant and animal species.
- Experience operating various types of equipment in a safe and efficient manner (e.g. Lawn mower, chainsaw, UTV, ATV or OHV, two-way radio, or similar equipment).
- Experience working in a team environment.
- Must be able to obtain related licenses or certifications as required. (e.g. First Aid, CPR, herbicide or pesticide application).

SALARY INFORMATION
The pay range for a candidate selected for this position is $19.50 an hour. This range only applies to candidates whose country of employment is the USA. Where a successful candidate’s actual pay will fall within this range will be based on a variety of factors, including, for example, the candidate's location, qualifications, specific skills, and experience. Please note countries outside the USA would have a different pay range in the local currency based on the local labor market, and not tied to USA pay or ranges.
