  • $48,000 – $58,000/yr. (depending on education and license)

JOB DESCRIPTION: A Forensic Reintegration Crisis Counselor (FRCC) provides intensive assessment, linkage and follow-up of individuals reintegrating to the community from a period of incarceration to the community setting. This role will provide proactive engagement and intervention for persons being discharged from an inpatient setting and for those once discharged, identified to be in acute psychiatric distress within Oneida County. Further, s/he/they is responsible for referring clients to appropriate agencies for needed services, conducting targeted outreach, engagement in ongoing therapeutic services and for assessing and intervening with individuals in crisis.

The role of the FRCC is to serve as a resource to successful and streamlined reintegration to the community for justice-involved individuals in Oneida County. S/he/they will be expected to support re-integrative efforts proactively in order to reduce the potential for individuals to recidivate by providing access to appropriate supports and services in the community. S/he/they will be expected to partner with all appropriate agencies who provide services to reintegrating clients, this includes; Parole, Probation, Mental Health Court, Oneida County Jail, and all state correctional and psychiatric facilities in the county. They are expected to perform job functions with a degree of independence as well as assist in the management of day-to-day service operation as assigned.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Provides short-term crisis intervention and diffusion for children and adults in Oneida County requiring comprehensive crisis assessment and suicide/homicide lethality
  • Makes recommendations and assists in facilitating the appropriate level of treatment/services/supports.
  • Assists law enforcement and other agencies in handling mental health related crises with a primary focus on justice-involved clients reintegrating to the community.
  • Builds and maintains professional relationships with justice related agencies both in the community and in justice facilities. This includes the jails, prisons, and psychiatric facilities as well as Probation and Parole in Oneida County.
  • Engages in outreach efforts specific to developing well-rounded resources of benefit to reintegrating clients.
  • Provides proactive assessment and linkage to services for clients planning for release from a justice-facility into Oneida County.
  • Maintains accurate documentation of client/ agency contacts in accordance with program policy and procedure manual.
  • Assumes on-call, and administrative back-up responsibilities consistent with program needs.
  • Attends and actively participates in all required training, staff meetings and case conferences as required by agency administration.
  • Engages in supervision on a regular basis.
  • Provides educational/ marketing /training presentations to the community, as assigned by the Crisis Program Director.
  • Assists law enforcement and other agencies in handling mental health related crisis.
  • Engages in agency/program projects or work groups as assigned by the Crisis Program Director.
  • Maintains a professional manner at all times, adhering to The Neighborhood Center, Inc.’s policy and procedures and in keeping with the Agency’s mission statement.
  • Maintain a valid NY State driver’s license and have access to a viable vehicle.
  • Secures and maintains all necessary certification and professional licensing as dictated by profession and required qualifications.
  • Punctual and regular attendance is an essential responsibility of each employee. Employees are expected to report to work as scheduled, on time and prepared to start working.
  • Performs other duties as requested by Agency Administration.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS (meet at least one of the following):

  • A New York State Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) with one (1) year of experience in the provision of mental health services and one (1) year of forensic experience or commensurate training/certification
  • A New York State Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) with one (1) year of experience in the provision of mental health services and one (1) year of forensic experience or commensurate training/certification
  • A New York State Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) with one (1) year of experience in the provision of mental health services and one (1) year of forensic experience or commensurate training/certification
  • A New York State Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) with one (1) year of experience in the provision of mental health services and one (1) year of forensic experience or commensurate training/certification
  • A New York State Licensed Psychologist (Ph.D.) with one (1) year of experience in the provision of mental health services and one (1) year of forensic experience or commensurate training/certification
  • A Master’s Degree in Mental Health, Forensics or Human Services and two (2) years of experience in the provision of mental health services and/or jail diversion.
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Mental Health, Forensics or Human Services and three (3) years of experience in the provision of mental health services and/or jail diversion.
