What are the responsibilities and job description for the Bookkeeper position at The New Mexico Boys & Girls Ranches?
We are looking for a candidate to handle the tracking and management of financial data for our non-denominational Christian non-profit organization; prepare financial reports, supervise receipt, disbursement, banking, protection, and custody of funds, securities, and financial instruments, analyze financial records to forecast future financial position and budget requirements. Must be local.
Compensation:$18 - $20 hourly
Responsibilities:- Maintains general ledger including preparing and entering journal entries
- Reconciles all accounts monthly
- Maintains all inventory records and record-keeping
- Record deposits and payroll expenses in the accounting system
- Assists in budget preparation
- Prepares monthly financial reports
- Assures compliance with all government (state and federal) reporting
- Monitors payment of real estate tax accounts and records monthly accruals including prepaid amortization
- Tracks appeals and promotions
- Thorough understanding of standard (GAAP) accounting principles
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work autonomously a majority of the time
- Standard book-keeping practices
- Alerts Senior Leadership of financial matters and procedures that will protect the ethics, financial integrity, and nonprofit status of the organization
- Ability to pass local and federal background checks
Experience Preferred:
- Experience with accounting for the non-profit world (preferred but not required)
- Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics - Great Plains™, e-Tapestry™(preferred but not required)
Education Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, accounting-related field
