We are seeking an experienced, highly motivated, socially engaged university administrator to serve as the Vice Provost for Planning, Operations, and Communications (VPO).
Reporting to the Provost and Executive Vice President, the VPO will serve as a senior leader in the Office of the Provost. The VPO will be responsible for leading, delegating, and assisting with complex and confidential institutional projects in support of the University's mission, and the advancement of the academic enterprise. The VPO serves as one of the Provost's strategic liaisons, cultivating and maintaining strong relationships across the institution. They will serve as a key aide to the Provost in driving the effective communication and implementation of decisions and initiatives related to strategic functions, priorities, and programs involving the University's academic enterprise. The VPO oversees planning, operations, and communications for the Provost and Office of the Provost and supports the development and implementation of institutional policy and procedures, collaborating with university leaders, governance groups, and stakeholders across the University. This position also supports the Provost in strategically aligning the budget and staffing resources within the Office of the Provost units with institutional priorities. The VPO will supervise the communication, budget strategy, and administration team, and work closely with university leaders, governance groups, and stakeholders to lead administrative operations related to institutional projects in support of the university’s academic mission.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Budget and Space Resources
- In coordination with other Provost Office leadership, lead planning for the efficient and effective distribution of resources, ensuring the development of business plans and projections to support a broad array of academic and administrative initiatives.
- Collaborates with the office of finance to ensure academic goals are enacted in budget and resource decision making; oversees budgetary activities throughout the year for all Provost Office units.
- Leads strategic alignment of budget and space resources within the Provost Office units with academic and institutional mission.
Communications
Partner with relevant offices to develop and manage communication plans around major provost-office and university-wide initiatives or issues.Oversees all internal communications for the Office of the Provost, including the website.Drives effective communication and implementation of administrative decisions.General
Collaborate with the Provost’s leadership team and university constituents to ensure strategic planning and program initiatives are in alignment with the university’s vision, institutional culture, and core values.Provides guidance and leadership on a variety of administrative operations in conjunction with central university offices, including : human resources, space planning, budget.Perform special assignments and conduct special administrative tasks on a wide range of subjects related to the overall management and operation of the Provost’s Office.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Master’s degree required.Minimum of 7 years of progressive responsibility and leadership in higher education or related field.Record as a successful administrator with a minimum of 5 years of experience in a strategic management role.Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible budget, analysis, planning experience in a complex educational, research or other closely related organization.Demonstrated experience with development of varied and complex financial / programmatic analyses and reports in support of strategic decision-making.Advanced knowledge and understanding of the principles, practices, methods, and techniques of planning, forecasting, budgeting, and critical thinking in the analysis / assessment of projects and initiatives.Proven leadership, strategic planning, and project management skills with an exceptional ability to analyze, plan, coordinate, articulate, and execute complex projects and initiatives.Outstanding written and verbal communications skills with the demonstrated ability to effectively convey articulate matters of complexity and nuance to multiple and varied audiences in both planned and extemporaneous situations with empathy and diplomacy.A commitment to equity, inclusion and social justice, and evidence of engagement in this space.Experienced user of academic systems, analytical tools and databases.Demonstrated leadership ability with a proven record of success in working with all levels of leadership and staff in a rapidly changing and complex organization.Excellent judgment, ability to collaborate, and creative problem-solving abilities.Strong interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to exercise judgment, discretion, and sensitivity to confidentiality.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Terminal degree in a related field.Collaborative and relationship building skills, with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to engage others and work with coalitions of faculty, staff, students, university leaders and others across a diverse university community to achieve results.Proven record of leading and facilitating transformational change in higher education, building strong teams and talent development.Demonstrated emotional intelligence and the ability to use diplomacy and sensitivity in working with a diverse and broad range of constituents throughout all levels of an organization.Advanced Excel skills.Experience with Workday and Banner.WORK MODE
Hybrid / Split - Employees hired for this position have regularly scheduled, consistent percentage of time on campus (ex 1-4x / week) and also work some of the time remotely.SALARY RANGE
225,000 to $245,000 per annum
