About the Role
The New York Times is looking for a Producer II for Games to support its fast-growing subscription games portfolio.
This is an opportunity to work on the NYT Games Apps. Our newly redesigned app took home both an Apple Design Award and an App Store Award for Culture and Impact in 2024. We are now looking for a Producer II who is excited to work with our App Squad to continue to build out the apps that bring games like Wordle, Connections, Strands, Spelling Bee and the Crossword to players all over the world.
You'll be part of a fast-growing and independent team at The New York Times. You'll have the chance to shape the future of our apps, shepherding new features through all stages of development. You will inspire and motivate the team to achieve its goals.
Responsibilities:
- Partner with Product, Design, Engineering and Editorial to manage and execute complex programs from start to finish.
- Connect business goals and player desires.
- Unite and motivate large cross-disciplinary teams to ship regularly.
- Ensure project scopes and schedules are well defined.
- Anticipate issues, monitor risks and remove roadblocks.
- Familiar with agile software development practices and leading iterative process improvement for cross-functional teams.
- Cultivate a healthy culture of curiosity, communication, collaboration and inclusiveness.
- Ensure the team delivers the most impactful work, making roadmap trade offs when needed.
- Communicate a plan of action for risks and dependencies.
- Demonstrate support and understanding of our value of journalistic independence and a strong commitment to our mission to seek the truth and help people understand the world.
- You will report to the Director of Production and this role may be based in New York City.
Basic Qualifications:
- 4 years mobile development production experience (iOS or Android)
- Familiar with multiple types of development concepts (waterfall, scrum, Kanban).
- Experience shepherding app feature teams through the development of new, high-impact features and and ongoing live operations
- Proficient in SaaS-based collaboration tools required to lead modern game teams, including G-Suite, JIRA, and more
