About Us
The Next Step is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides tuition assistance to individuals active in a 12-step recovery program from substance abuse who demonstrate financial need and are pursuing an academic or vocational education.
Position Description
The Program Coordinator is a multifaceted role that facilitates the scholarship program, performs operational functions, and assists with events and donor management. This person must be passionate about the mission of the organization and have knowledge of 12-step substance use disorder recovery programs.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- Work experience with a non-profit organization preferred
- Knowledge of 12-step substance use disorder recovery programs (A.A., N.A., H.A)
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills. Must have a very high comfort level of working with people from a wide range of backgrounds in a professional, approachable manner.
- Must have a high level of proficiency with CRM and data base management programs and the following software: Microsoft Office and QuickBooks Online. Experience with the following software or their equivalent is preferred: Canva, DropBox, Bloomerang, and WizeHive/Zengine .
- Strong organization and planning skills, with high attention to detail, accuracy, and timeliness in all work
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
- Provide administrative management for all functions related to the scholarship process, including application processing, scholarship interview coordination, applicant recruitment, scholarship disbursements, and volunteer tracking
- Manage and maintain all records in the scholarships database
- Serve as the point of contact between the organization and all scholarship applicants, utilizing phone, email, and text contact
- Provide overall operational support for the organization
- Assist with the administrative aspects of fundraising and community events
- Donor management, including CRM database updates, tax letters, and thank you notes
- Work with the board treasurer and accounting firm to process invoices and donations
- Attend all monthly board meetings, prepare agendas, and take minutes
- Special projects and other duties as assigned by the Senior Director and Executive Team
Work Environment & Requirements
- Part-Time hourly position between 25-30 hours per week, Monday – Friday, (with occasional evenings and weekends as needed)
- Work will be primarily performed at The Next Step office location in Warson Woods during set business hours
- Attend one Zoom board meeting per month on a Saturday morning
- Reliable transportation, ability to move up and down stairwells, and to lift approximately 25 lbs for event setup
