The Estimator is key to our success and will be responsible for the accurate and thorough completion of construction estimating and the transfer of that information to the internal design and construction teams. This person will use their knowledge of the residential remodeling process and trades to compile accurate labor and building material scope and pricing.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Meet on-site with customers to measure design and document all details required to prepare labor estimate
- Prepare itemized estimate with all labor and building materials scope
- Review scope and pricing with designer to and ensure accuracy and completeness for customer presentation
- Meet with designer and customer in-person to present final design/build proposal and close sale
- Transfer estimate knowledge and methods to PM and foreman during pre-construction meeting
- Available as a resource to all field crews for questions on scope and approach
- Review budget vs. actual costs with PM and CM to assess variances and improve cost accuracies
- Business acumen to apply to estimates with a good understanding of impact of pricing and gross profit margins.
If your experience and skills include:
- 10 years remodeling and construction experience
- Ability to read detailed blueprints, structural load calculations and framing plans
- Strong organization skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Solid time management skills and ability to meet simultaneous timelines.
- Strong communication and customer service skills via email, phone to a varying customer base.
- Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and superior organizational skills
- Ability to assess problems, find root cause and resolve to customer satisfaction
- Willingness to be flexible, taking on both challenging and non-challenging tasks
- General carpentry, cabinet installation, product quality knowledge
- Strong organization skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Tech savvy and able to use and learn new software applications quickly
- Prior use of Buildertrend would be a plus, not required
- Experience working with ERP system (Bistrack)
- Knowledge of cabinetry and installation
Physical Requirements
- Valid drivers' license and able to drive to job sites
- Able to read small print and details on blueprints
- Able to lift 40 lbs individually, up to 100lbs with 2 person lift
- Able to walk over uneven surfaces
- May assist with cabinet install on job site
