We are currently seeking a Construction Coordinator living in the Augusta / CSRA as key to our UMCOR & NGUMC Hurricane Helene recovery. This is a full time, grant funded position, for the duration of the project expected to be 1-2 years or more.
Position Summary :
Hurricane Helene impact in the Augusta, Georgia area has created an opportunity for community ministry as many elderly and vulnerable neighbors need our help in order to rebuild. We are seeking someone who has the following skills and lives in the Augusta area and able to help us serve the Richmond, Columbia, and McDuffie County identified projects.
The construction coordinator (CC) is a critical partner to the disaster case manager (DCM). The CC assesses home damage, verifies it is storm related, provides repair estimates and develops a plan for the repairs using skilled volunteer labor whenever possible. The CC also works closely with the volunteer coordinator to manage the repair projects and volunteer teams.
Essential Job Requirements :
- An appreciation of the nature and mission of the Church is essential;
- safety screening as evidenced by a background check;
- available to work a flexible schedule, including occasional evening and weekend hours to meet client availability;
- able to maintain ethical conduct in accordance with organizational policy;
- conduct business in a manner consistent with the mission, values and policies of the organization;
- able to maintain high standards for protecting client information, sharing confidential information only as agreed upon by the client and as evidenced by a signed release form;
- able to work calmly and effectively to resolve conflicts in sensitive situations; able to work collaboratively with others : colleagues, clients, volunteers, partner agencies, vendors;
- computer literate, able to utilize word processing, database, and spreadsheet software and demonstrate ability to learn new and / or customized software;
- knowledge and experience in construction trades;
- project management experience;
- strong communications skills with ability to train and guide volunteer teams;
- ability to build vendor relations;
- organized and prepared for reports, meetings, briefings, and conversations with clients, staff and external partners;
- unquestioned confidentiality with sensitive financial and personal information
- possess no outside business interest that may conflict with the client or the organization’s goals and objectives;
- demonstrate helpful inter-personal skills, such as :
- genuine care and respect for individuals, families, and communities served;
- awareness of the impact of the disaster on the community, the family and the individual;
- effective listening and interviewing skills;
- cultural competence relative to the population served;
- compassionate and sensitive to the needs and concerns of individuals and families in crisis;
- ability to maintain appropriate service boundaries;
- Good self-awareness.
- Georgia General Contractor’s License is preferred but not required.
- Active membership in the United Methodist Church is preferred but not required.
