We are seeking a passionate and collaborative Middle School Singing Teacher to join our Performing Arts Department for a part-time (0.25 FTE) position for the 2025–26 school year. This role includes teaching three distinct trimester-long singing courses, each with a unique curricular focus, and offers the opportunity to develop and implement new curriculum in alignment with our mission and values.
Essential Functions:
- Teach three separate trimester-long singing classes to middle school students (grades 6–8), each with a different thematic or genre focus (e.g., choral fundamentals, show choir, vocal expression through global music traditions)
- Design and implement engaging, age-appropriate curriculum that celebrates the joy of singing, builds vocal skills, and fosters community
- Collaborate with other arts faculty to coordinate curriculum and contribute to school performances and showcases
- Build inclusive, affirming classroom environments that support students of all skill levels and identities
- Participate in performing arts department meetings and contribute to departmental planning and collaboration
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Experience teaching singing and vocal performance to adolescents
- Bachelor’s degree in Music, Music Education, or a related field
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant teaching experience with middle school-aged students
- Demonstrated success in creating inclusive, student-centered learning environments
- Commitment to The Northwest School’s values of diversity, equity, inclusion, environmental sustainability, and global citizenship
Preferred
- Experience developing new curriculum, especially in creative or performance-based disciplines
- Familiarity with culturally responsive teaching practices and repertoire from diverse musical traditions
- Experience teaching students with a variety of learning needs
Compensation:
Salary range is $57,369- $104,618 based on education & years of experience. This is a 0.25 FTE position which is not benefit eligible.
As a part-time, limited-term position, this role is not benefits eligible.
