The Compliance Trainer is responsible for training and ongoing support for on-site teams in all areas of Tax Credit Compliance. This position is responsible for Compliance Training for New Hires as well as ongoing staff performance and development.

This position reports to the Learning & Development Manager and operates within and contributes to an environment that complies with Fair Housing Laws and Equal Employment Opportunity.

Essential Functions Statement(s):

  • Understand the Tax Credit Compliance leasing process and be able to teach community staffs to prepare a complete file for approval by the Compliance department or third-party vendor. Understand the requirements for every state and program and be able to train staff to comply with requirements.
  • Ensure the effective delivery and completion of assigned learning activities (and job aids) for NRP employees (Property Management, Communities, and Regional Levels).
  • Develop, conduct and ensure regular and on-going learning / training sessions for all community personnel in order to achieve organizational, departmental, and operational performance goals.
  • Understand the Affordable Lease-Up process in order to develop and conduct lease-up training (as needed, coach onsite).
  • Provide Tax Credit Compliance Training for the NRP New Hire Program – be able to train these processes and policies to employees who are new to the Affordable Housing Market.
  • Collaborate with Business Partners and Management to implement new platforms and enhancements to existing platforms; ensure training materials and SOPs are current and accurate.
  • Ensure Compliance consistency (techniques, objectives, direction, etc.) is performed throughout the NRP Group portfolio.
  • Recommend appropriate Compliance activities based on research of property management success.
  • Collaborate with Community Managers (CM), District Managers (DM), Regional Property Managers (RPM), Regional Maintenance Managers (RMM) to address any Compliance related deficiencies (coach accordingly).
  • Propose learning, coaching, training, etc. initiatives to improve an employee’s or a community’s operational performance.
  • Evaluate learned skills and techniques used at the communities and report the results to the Management Team. Evaluate employee accuracy, application, and consistency of demonstrated skill. Recommend solutions for any learning deficiencies.
  • Participate as directed in the development of compliance materials that are directly correlated to learning activities at communities.
  • Complete knowledge of the Compliance SOP and suggest edits, changes or updates as needed.
  • Participate in meetings as required.
  • Be willing to travel and execute any job duties as required to assist employee learning for improved operational performance.
  • Attend Compliance, Leasing, and Training Focus groups as needed in order to better assist with Compliance and Training needs.
  • Attend State, Syndicator, City, or other applicable training in order to stay up to date with changing regulations and LIHTC updates
  • Review all user manuals, training materials and other documents as needed to enable successful implementation and ensure materials are in line with policies and procedures.
  • Provide input and suggestions on processes and policies in support of organizational goals. Report on variances to policies, regulations and procedures.
  • Provide superior and supportive customer service to internal and external customers within all levels of the organization and external client base.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Education: Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent Tax Credit Designations

Experience: 2 years’ Property Management experience or equivalent; 2 years’ experience with Tax Credit Compliance

Skills Required:

  • Expertise with the Yardi Suite of products including RightSource, CRM, Voyager, and Site Manager
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (including PowerPoint) and online video conferencing platforms (Teams and Zoom)
  • Strong written and oral communication skills; Must be able to effectively communicate and share information in a clear, concise manner with training participants with vary levels of skills across all levels of the organization
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills

Driver’s License Required: Yes


Other Requirements:

  • Spanish-speaking ability is a plus.
