Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated, experienced, and passionate Ranch Manager to oversee operations at The Nunda Ranch and continue to grow a thriving facility in Livingston County, NY. We offer guided trail rides, riding memberships, and other horse activities on property, allong with Weddings, Events, and Vacation Rentals . The ideal candidate will have a strong background in ranch management and riding experience, staff supervision, customer service, and business operations, with an emphasis on providing an exceptional experience for guests. This role requires a blend of hands-on ranch work, guiding trail rides, and managerial duties to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the farm.
Key Responsibilities:
- Guiding Trail Rides: Lead guided trail rides 5 days a week, ensuring guest safety, enjoyment, and education about the ranch. Handling all Riding Memberships and all additional activities involving horses on property.
- Ranch Operations Management: Oversee daily operations including animal care, maintenance of facilities, and management of ranch equipment.
- Staff Supervision: Hire, train, and supervise ranch staff, including trail ride guides, and ranch hands. Ensure staff delivers high-quality services and maintains a positive work environment.
- Scheduling: Develop and manage the schedule for guided trail rides and ranch hands, ensuring optimal guest flow, proper staffing, and minimal downtime.
- Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service by engaging with guests, handling inquiries, and resolving any issues or concerns promptly.
- Business Growth: Work alongside ownership and general manager to create and implement strategies for business growth, including marketing initiatives, partnerships, and new service offerings.
- Budgeting & Financial Oversight: Assist in budgeting, track expenditures, manage operational costs, and identify opportunities for cost-saving measures without compromising the quality of services provided. Work with Manager to endure budget and finances stay on track.
- Office Management: Handle day-to-day administrative tasks such as booking reservations, maintaining schedules, managing payroll, and ensuring compliance with safety and legal regulations.
- Maintenance & Facility Management: Oversee the upkeep and maintenance of barns, trails, and ranch grounds, ensuring safety and readiness for guests and animals.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in ranch management, and equestrian care.
- Strong knowledge of horses, trail riding, and farm operations.
- Experience in managing a team, with excellent leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to schedule and manage daily operations effectively.
- Familiarity with budgeting and financial management.
- Excellent customer service skills, with a friendly and approachable demeanor.
- Ability to work independently, take initiative, and handle multiple tasks at once.
- Able to lift 50 lbs and be on your feet/in the saddle for minimum 8 hours a day.
- Comfortable working in an outdoor environment and in various weather conditions.
- First Aid/CPR certification (preferred, but not required).
- Must be able to work weekends and holidays, as needed.
