Job Title: Financial Operations Senior Coordinator Department: Arts and Sciences | Psychology Position Overview: The Financial Operations Senior Coordinator plays a crucial role in managing financial operations, human subject payments, procurement, and travel for faculty, staff, and students in the Department of Psychology. This position ensures compliance with university policies, provides financial guidance, and streamlines processes to support the department’s academic and research activities. The role requires strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while collaborating with faculty, staff, students, and central offices. Key responsibilities include overseeing financial transactions, tracking expenditures, maintaining fiscal policies, and assisting with recruitment and event planning. The coordinator also serves as a mentor to student assistants and acts as a resource for faculty and staff, helping them navigate financial and administrative procedures efficiently. Key Responsibilities Financial Operations & Compliance: Serve as a primary financial resource for faculty, staff, and students, ensuring adherence to university, college, and departmental policies. Advise on appropriate procurement and travel methods, managing expense reports and spend authorizations to ensure compliance. Track and log procurement card (P-Card) transactions in coordination with the P-Card manager. Generate and analyze procurement, fiscal, travel, and fund balance reports for faculty. Maintain and update department fiscal policies and track annual expenditures. Assist with faculty and graduate student recruitment, event planning, and other special projects. Provide backup support for financial data corrections and journal entries as needed. Human Subject Payments & Payroll Management: Serve as the lead associate for human subject payment transactions, ensuring accurate requisitions, payment tracking, and compliance with university policies. Monitor human subject cash advances, following up every 90 days to ensure proper closure or reimbursement. Oversee payroll accounting adjustments, collaborating with grant managers to ensure accurate payroll allocations. Administrative & Team Support: Provide backup support to department administrative staff as needed. Supervise and mentor undergraduate student assistants. Collaborate with faculty, staff, students, and central offices to support business functions across academic and research areas. Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned by the supervisor. Minimum Required Qualifications High school diploma with 2 years of relevant experience Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Desired Qualifications Associate’s degree (preferred) or an equivalent combination of education and experience, ideally in Business Administration. 4-6 years of progressively responsible experience in business operations. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Experience with Workday financial modules and knowledge of The Ohio State University and Office of Sponsored Programs policies. Additional Information: Salary Range: $19.09-$25.10 *The offer for this position will fall within this range based on internal equity, the unit’s available budget, and the candidate’s qualifications.
