Community and Youth Collaborative Institute (CAYCI; www.cayci.osu.edu) in the College of Social Work seeks to improve the conditions in which youth learn and play so that all youth have the chance at a healthy, happy life. At CAYCI, we engage in primary research and resource development, program administration, school-family-community partnerships, and consultation and evaluation. We impact many of the key settings in which youth development occurs, including families, schools, youth sport & other out-of-school time programs, and communities. As part of the College of Social Work at The Ohio State University, we also help to foster the growth of students and professionals interested in youth development, school social work, and research.
The professional in this position will serve as a Social Worker – BSW for CAYCI as part of a broader five-year project to adopt and implement a full-service community school (FSCS) approach in a highly impacted elementary school in Columbus City Schools.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in social work. 0 years of relevant experience required.
Desired Qualifications
Relevant experience working in and with schools and youth and families experiencing social vulnerabilities. 0-2 years of relevant experience preferred.

This role requires a person with knowledge, skills, and competencies in working with children, youth, and families and collaborating and coordinating stakeholders, services, and programs to support student, school, and community success and well-being. Day to day activities will include planning, integrating, coordinating, and facilitating activities across each of the FSCS pillars:
Social Worker – BSW also will actively participate in the adoption, training, and facilitation of evidence-based social-emotional skills strategies and interventions.
Social Worker -BSW Will Work Under The Day-to-day Direction Of The School Principal Or His/her Designee In The Building To Coordinate, Align, And Enhance School- And Community-resources To Support Student Learning And Well-being, Family Stability, School Success, And a Strong Neighborhood, As Well As Outcomes Identified In The School Improvement Plan Of The School And Its Partners. School Social Worker- BSW Will Lead School And Community Needs And Resource Assessments Annually To Identify And Respond To Top Priority Needs. Other Roles And Responsibilities:
The target hiring range is $45,500-$56,900 annually. The actual salary will fall within this range based on the candidate’s qualifications, internal equity, and the unit’s available budget.

- Cultivate partnerships, build relationships, and develop resources to address top priority needs in the school and the community.
- Work to align and integrate programs and services offered by school and community partners for youth and families through meetings with partners in the building.
- Act as care coordinator for the assigned student population in the school and provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 intervention strategies to students and in support of teachers in classrooms.
- Develop, coordinate and implement parent/caregiver/family engagement comprehensive strategies, events and programs at the school and in the Linden Community abroad in collaboration with others outside of the school while assisting with activities of the Family Resource Center at the school.
- Coordinate a system of support (in partnership with school district social worker, Assistant Principal, and other support staff) to ensure individual students and families receive in- and out-of-school support, and address well-being and out-of-school barriers to learning.
- Participate in and support the Multi-Tier System of Support Team (MTSS) to collect and analyze data and student interventions for specific students and families.
- Develop and implement student interventions to expand and enrich learning time through evidence-based programs that provide additional academic instruction, individualized academic support, enrichment activities, or extended learning opportunities, particularly with/at LiFEsports at Ohio State.
- Implement recruitment and retention strategies to identify and engage youth and their families in programs and activities.
- Support the FSCS Team and CAYCI grant evaluation team in compiling, analyzing, and disaggregating various data for grants reporting and to identify progress and gaps in addressing unmet student needs; Share data with administration, district, and community partners as appropriate, to inform decision-making, improvements, and partnership development.
