The Old Globe in San Diego, CA, an industry-leading theatre, seeks dynamic, experienced candidates for Associate Producer. With a budget of $36 million, each season features 16 subscription productions on three stages on the Old Globe’s lovely Balboa Park campus. Their full production slate includes a renowned summer Shakespeare Festival, productions of classic and world premiere plays and musicals, the annual Powers New Voices Festival of new play readings, myriad Arts Engagement programming – such as Globe For All, Axis Events, Community Voices, and a production of the University of San Diego/Old Globe Shiley Graduate Theatre Program. Reporting to the Artistic Producer/Head of Casting, the Associate Producers serve as line producers on all levels of Globe productions – on their three stages, Globe for All Tours, MFA shows, developmental workshops and readings, special projects, and more.

Associate Producers participate in the planning and execution of productions including casting, creative team selection, and script development. Associate Producers work closely with the creative and production teams prior to and throughout the production runs, including supporting rehearsals, technical rehearsals, and previews. Associate Producers also participate in season planning, maintain and cultivate artistic and industry relationships, participate in humanities and lifelong learning activities, participate in arts engagement activities, support contracting for productions, workshops, and readings, and complete administrative tasks within the Artistic department.

The Old Globe is seeking candidates with background and skills that combine a developed artistic insight and a deep knowledge, and experience in, producing. Familiarity and strong connections with directors, designers, actors, playwrights, artisans, makers, producers, etc. a major plus. Desired experiences and positions could include: producer, director, literary manager/associate, casting director/associate, stage manager, artist agent or manager, in regional and/or commercial theatre. This position does not offer opportunities to direct, design, or act in shows.

COMPENSATION AND START DATE

The annual salary for the Associate Producer role at The Old Globe is $65,000-75,000, commensurate with experience. This is a full-time position with benefits including 401(k). Modest relocation reimbursement may be available. Selected candidates must be able to pass applicable background check and have a valid driver’s license.
