Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Billing Specialist to join our growing team. The Billing Specialist will be primarily responsible for accurately processing medical claims specifically for Kentucky Medicaid, ensuring timely payments, and maintaining accurate patient billing records. This role requires a strong understanding of Kentucky Medicaid billing procedures and excellent attention to detail.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and submit electronic and paperJob Summary:
- claims to Kentucky Medicaid.
- Follow up on unpaid claims and resolve billing discrepancies.
- Verify patient eligibility and coverage.
- Post payments and adjustments to patient accounts.
- Communicate effectively with participants and internal staff regarding billing inquiries.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Stay up-to-date on Kentucky Medicaid billing regulations and guidelines.
- Prepare invoices to private-pay individuals.
- Review Remittance Advice weekly.
Qualifications:
- Required: Proven experience in medical billing, with a strong understanding of billing procedures.
- Preferred: Medical Billing certification or degree (e.g., CPC, CPB).
- Strong understanding of medical coding (CPT and ICD-10).
- Familiarity with Kentucky Medicaid claim processing procedures and requirements.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong organizational, investigative, and time-management skills.
- Proficiency in using billing software and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Proficiency with Excel, Google Sheets, Google Docs, etc.
- Strong communication skills.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Excellent data entry and attention to detail.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Ability to multi-task.
- Strong computer skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively as well as independently.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
