We are seeking a full-time Lab Assistant/Phlebotomist to join our OBGYN clinic at Legacy Emanuel Medical Center in North Portland. You will work with exceptional physicians who value their team and working together to help our patients get the best possible care.
Responsibilities include assisting the medical staff by collecting information, escorting patients to draw station, preparing patients for examination/draw/injection, performing specialty-related tests/monitoring, and assisting with overall delivery of patient care in the department. Additionally, the Lab Assistant coordinates lab processes and is responsible for drawing all blood samples from patients using the proper skills and techniques to obtain sample with minimal discomfort to the patient. The role is responsible for facilitating laboratory testing conducted within the clinic, cleaning, sterilizing, and maintenance of medical equipment used during clinic day, stocking lab supplies throughout clinic, and is the point person for lab errors, correspondence with lab representatives and is expected to oversee general functions of the clinic lab.
We are looking for someone with a great attitude, lab problem solving skills, and prior experience in an OB/GYN setting. The ideal candidate will be detail oriented, strong at multi-tasking and dedicated to high quality patient care. Will consider new grads with prior work experience in customer service.
Workdays will be Monday - Friday (9:00am-5:30 pm).
Starting pay range, based on experience: $20.97 - $28.37 per hour.
Medical, Vision, and Rx Insurance is 100% paid for by The Oregon Clinic for full-time employees.
Qualifications:
- Requires completion of a phlebotomy course or an accredited medical assistant course or 6 months laboratory experience and certification as a Healthcare Assistant.
- Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) experience with phlebotomy certification/experience are encouraged to apply.
- Current CPR/BLS within 60 days of hire. ACLS may be required by specialty.
- Prior OBGYN experience strongly preferred.
- Prior scheduling and EMR experience preferred.
- Knowledge of basic specimen collection, selection, handling and storage.
- Ability to work independently and in a team setting.
- Strong commitment to patient care and privacy guidelines.
- Must be comfortable communicating with outside labs, vendors, and representatives.
