About You
The Donor Relations Officer (DRO) develops and maintains a relationship as a trusted advisor to a diverse portfolio of donor advised, corporate, community advised, and scholarship funds. In addition to stewarding, engaging, and educating advisors and volunteers, the DRO serves as a community ambassador, engaging and connecting with the community to support donor philanthropy and community engagement activities, and inspiring and educating donors to fund OCF's discretionary priorities. The DRO plays an essential role in supporting the day-to-day operations of the branch and its regional team and helps support and strategize branch, department, and foundation-wide projects and priorities. This position is part of a team that implements education and engagement activities and strategic fundraising campaigns in support of OCF’s priorities.
This position is located in OCF’s Eugene, Oregon, office and as such, staff are expected to serve as an integral part of the regional team, participating in weekly team meetings, events, and information sharing.
Stewardship and Development (50%)

Stewardship and Development (50%)
- Build deep awareness about donor/advisor’s interests and goals. Maintain proactive and responsive communication with a multifaceted portfolio of donors and advisors to facilitate and negotiate services to meet charitable goals, including initiating research projects, managing grant programs and special projects, and partnering with and supporting scholarship committee chairs and committees (as needed and as dictated by portfolio).
- Listen for opportunities to inspire deeper engagement with OCF: including educating and encouraging fund holders to build or create new funds and to support OCF’s statewide initiatives, competitive grants programs, board priorities, and community needs.
- Coordinate site visits, organize events and convenings, and respond to nonprofit inquiries about donor advised fund grants.
- Collaborate with colleagues to design and facilitate meetings on topics such as values, philanthropic identities, next-generation engagement, family legacies, collective giving, and current issues.
- Participate in developing strategies for business development efforts aimed at individual, corporate, private, and other foundation partnerships.
- As dictated by the DRO’s portfolio, strategize, coordinate and execute RFPs and manages and convenes volunteer scholarship and community advised fund committees.
- Act as a public representative for OCF; attend and engage in community meetings including meeting with community leaders and partner foundations about specific topics and OCF priorities. Assist with messaging of OCF’s programs and statewide funding priorities.
- Develop knowledge and awareness about community issues, nonprofit organizations, and community leaders, particularly as they relate to the interests of donor advisors and OCF’s priorities. In coordination with leadership, branch, department, and Foundation staff, helps design, plan and implement events, projects, and communications related to these key issues.
- Support regional team activities and community engagement strategies, working closely with colleagues, board members, and leadership councils.
- Maintain fund records in OCF’s database, including task and contact log entry to track and report donor engagement.
- Regularly monitor fund agreements and scholarship checklists (as dictated by the DRO’s portfolio) to ensure adherence to donor intent; oversee and implement legal changes to fund agreements and ensure documentation for OCF on how it will administer the fund once an advisor no longer exists.
- Participate in planning and support the implementation of annual branch operations and projects aligned with the Foundation’s strategic plan and goals.
- Support regional team activities and community engagement strategies, working closely with colleagues, board members, and leadership councils.
- Remain aware of trends in the field of philanthropy and their implications for OCF.
- Develop an understanding of IRS regulations and the Uniform Prudent Management of Invested Funds Act to ensure grantmaking compliance.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive knowledge of OCF initiatives and community needs to be responsive to inquiries and position the Foundation to proactively align donor advisors with opportunities for co-investment, collective giving, and shared learning opportunities.
- Understand OCF’s infrastructure and inform donors and advisors about Foundation policies, financial statements, and the investment program.
- Maintain and expand knowledge of best practices and developments in donor engagement, family philanthropy, and multi-generational giving.
Education and Experience:
- Six years’ experience as a nonprofit development professional or experience in a related field
- Prior fundraising experience.
- Bachelors’ degree or equivalent experience and education in lieu of a degree.
- Statewide and national travel is required based upon portfolio or Foundation priorities; may involve overnight stays which are organized largely at the Officer’s discretion.
- Comfortable office environment.
- Physical effort includes use of keyboard/monitor, prolonged sitting or standing, and occasionally lifting.
- Report all injuries, illnesses, or accidents to your supervisor as soon as possible and within 24 hours.
