Position Overview
The Training Coordinator is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing training programs for armed security personnel. This role ensures that all guards are thoroughly trained to perform their duties safely, professionally, and in compliance with legal, industry, and company standards. The Training Coordinator works closely with security teams, regulatory bodies, and management to uphold the highest security and operational readiness standards.
The Training Coordinator position is located, and will report daily on-site in the Columbus, Ohio facility.
Duties

Training Program Development:
- Design, implement, and update comprehensive training programs for armed security guards, including classroom instruction, practical exercises, and scenario-based simulations.
- Develop training materials and ensure alignment with company policies, local laws, and industry best practices.
- Incorporate topics such as firearm safety, defensive tactics, conflict resolution, emergency response, and customer service.

Compliance and Certification:
- Ensure all training programs meet regulatory and certification requirements for armed guards.
- Maintain records of training completion, certifications, and re-certification schedules.
- Stay informed about changes in laws and regulations affecting armed security operations.

Instruction and Coaching:
- Conduct hands-on training sessions, including weapons handling, use-of-force protocols, and situational awareness.
- Provide ongoing coaching and mentorship to guards to ensure skill retention and professional growth.
- Assess individual and team performance, identifying areas for improvement.

Risk Assessment and Scenario Training:
- Develop and execute realistic scenario-based training exercises to prepare guards for high-stress situations.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of training through drills and performance feedback.

Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with security management to align training objectives with operational needs.
- Collaborate with legal and compliance teams to address liability concerns and legal standards.
- Communicate effectively with trainees, providing clear guidance and constructive feedback.

Monitoring and Reporting:
- Track training progress, effectiveness, and outcomes through detailed reporting.
- Conduct post-incident reviews to identify training gaps and implement improvements.
- Report to management on training program developments and results.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Education: A bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, security management, or a related field is preferred. Relevant experience may substitute for education.
- Must be 21 years old and a United States Citizen.
- Must have a current Top Secret security clearance, or current SECRET clearance with eligibility for TS.

Experience:
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in security or law enforcement, with at least 5 years in a training or leadership role.
- Proven experience in firearms training and use-of-force instruction.

Certifications:
- Firearms Instructor Certification (e.g., NRA, POST, or equivalent).
- Documented training certificates in defensive tactics.
- Able to obtain an armed security guard license and firearm permits as state and local regulations require.
- Must pass all training and obtain required medical certifications, including CPR and First Aid/AED.

Skills:
- Strong knowledge of security operations, laws, and regulations.
- Excellent instructional and presentation skills.
- Proficient in conflict de-escalation techniques and emergency response protocols.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and record-keeping abilities.
- Must be able to maintain a standing or sitting position for up to two (2) hours, to include within the confines of a vehicle.
- Must be able to lift and carry fifty (50) lbs. climb up and down eight (8) flights of stairs.
- Hold a valid driver’s license.
Working Conditions
- Requires both office work and field training environments, including outdoor settings.
- May involve travel to training sites or client locations.
- Must be comfortable working in high-stress scenarios during training simulations.
