Position Overview: The Out-of-Door Academy is seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Communications to join our team. This is a full-time, 12-month position, employed annually from July to June, with a comprehensive benefits package. As the Director, this position will be responsible for developing and managing integrated marketing and communication strategies, overseeing all digital and print communications, and driving brand awareness across multiple platforms to support the school’s mission and strategic priorities.

The Director of Communications will play a key role in furthering this mission and enhancing the visibility of our school in both the local and broader community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Marketing & Communication Strategy: Plan, manage, and execute an integrated marketing and communications plan that supports ODA's strategic goals. This includes brand management, design, advertising, social media, public relations, and direct marketing.
- Internal and External Relations: Ensure brand consistency within the ODA community through internal communications. Act as the primary external relations liaison with media outlets to manage public relations and marketing initiatives.
- Collaboration & Leadership: Collaborate with Admissions, Human Resources, and Development teams to create data-driven strategies for recruitment and community engagement. Lead and inspire a team of two to three individuals.
- Digital and Print Communications: Manage all aspects of the school’s digital presence, including website content, social media, and SEO optimization. Oversee print communications, publications, and ensure consistency in design and messaging.
- Crisis Communications: Serve as a member of the ODA Crisis Team and maintain an up-to-date crisis communication plan.
- Brand & Creative Direction: Provide strategic leadership for creative initiatives, ensuring that marketing materials, websites, and communications align with the school’s values and strategic objectives.
- Budget & Reporting: Manage the department budget and external contracts, and regularly report on marketing metrics to the Chief Advancement Officer and Head of School, adjusting strategies as necessary.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, English, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of marketing or communications experience.
- Skills: Strong leadership, organizational, and strategic skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with a proven track record of working effectively with diverse groups, including students, staff, parents, and media.
