Description
The HR Operations Specialist will play a vital role in ensuring smooth and efficient HR processes, including payroll administration, HRIS management, benefits coordination, and compliance. This position supports the overall employee experience by maintaining updated records, processing accurate payroll, assisting with onboarding and offboarding, and supporting key HR initiatives aligned with the school's strategic goals.
Wage: $60,000 - 75,000, salaried non-exempt. Offered wage will depending on years of relevant experience.
Work Hours and Location: This position is eligible for a flexible work schedule between the hours of 7am - 6pm as well as hybrid location model. The schedule and amount of days in the office vs. work from home will be discussed in the interview process.

Key Responsibilities Include:
HRIS Management:
- Maintain and manage the HR Information System (HRIS) to ensure accurate employee data, reporting, and compliance.
- Support HR data collection and reporting to inform school initiatives.
- Assist in digitizing and organizing employee records for efficient access and compliance.
Payroll & Benefits Administration:
- Process monthly payroll for 150-200 employees, depending on the season, ensuring accuracy and compliance with policies and legal requirements.
- Manage benefit deductions, retirement contributions, and vendor submissions.
- Resolve benefit discrepancies.
- Respond to employee payroll and benefits-related inquiries.
Employee Lifecycle Support:
- Assist in job description maintenance, job postings, and recruitment.
- Oversee onboarding activities including processing background checks, HRIS process management, and benefits enrollment.
- Support offboarding processes, ensuring accurate record-keeping.
- Assist with distributing and tracking employee-related tasks, such as performance reviews, contracts, and required training.
- Support stay and exit interviews to inform retention strategies.
Compliance & Policy Implementation:
- Maintain and update HR policies and documentation to align with legal requirements and best practices.
- Serve as liaison for leaves of absence (LOA), ensuring compliance with applicable laws and internal policies.
HR Initiatives & Process Improvement:
- Collaborate with the Director of HR on hiring, retention, employee life-cycle and well-being initiatives.
- Participate in the implementation of HR programs that enhance employee engagement and school culture.
Requirements
Required:
- Computer literacy in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and confidentiality.
- Ability to work collaboratively across departments.
- Pass required background checks.
Preferred:
- 2 years of experience in HR operations, payroll, or HRIS management.
- Experience with Paylocity or similar HRIS platforms.
- Familiarity with payroll processing and benefits administration.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, related field, or equivalent experience.
- Experience in an education or non-profit setting.
- A desire to work with individuals from diverse cultures and experiences.
