Role Overview
The Controller will play a critical role in modernizing financial operations, strengthening internal controls, and building a high-performing accounting team. Reporting directly to the CFO, this role requires a strategic leader with strong technical expertise, process improvement experience, and a passion for driving efficiency. The Controller will ensure the integrity of financial reporting, implement scalable processes, and provide insightful analysis to support key business decisions. This is a hands-on role for a proactive leader eager to make a lasting impact in a growing and evolving company.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and the general ledger.
- Oversee the preparation of accurate financial statements and manage the period-end close process.
- Assess, modernize, and implement improved financial processes, systems, and internal controls.
- Build and develop a high-performing accounting team to support the company’s growth.
- Develop and manage annual budgets, forecasts, and financial projections to support strategic initiatives.
- Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities, providing recommendations to improve profitability and efficiency.
- Maintain cash flow management strategies to ensure financial stability.
- Coordinate external audits, tax filings, and compliance-related activities.
- Oversee treasury functions, including cash flow optimization and financing strategies.
- Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement within the finance function.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- CPA certification preferred.
- 10 years of progressive experience in accounting and finance.
- Proven experience in building and leading accounting teams.
- Track record of modernizing financial processes and systems.
- Experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment, with cost accounting knowledge preferred.
- Strong analytical skills with a proactive and solution-oriented mindset.
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively across teams.
- Strong leadership and mentoring skills to develop future company leaders.
- Multi-location financial management experience is a plus.
