Job Overview:
As the Weekend Dietary Manager, you will be responsible for managing the dietary department on weekends, ensuring high-quality food service and adherence to all dietary requirements and standards. You will supervise a team of kitchen and dietary staff, ensure that meals meet the nutritional needs of our clients, and ensure compliance with all safety and sanitation standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervision and Leadership:
Oversee the weekend operation of the dietary department, including managing kitchen staff.
Ensure the timely preparation and delivery of meals according to dietary guidelines and specific nutritional needs.
Monitor food service quality, portion control, and cleanliness of the kitchen and dining areas.
Meal Planning & Preparation:
Assist with planning and preparing balanced, nutritious meals in accordance with dietary restrictions and preferences.
Ensure all meals are compliant with regulatory requirements and meet patient or resident needs.
Inventory Management:
Manage food inventory, ensuring proper ordering and stocking of supplies for weekend meal preparation.
Track inventory levels and minimize waste.
Safety & Compliance:
Ensure that food safety and sanitation guidelines are strictly followed.
Monitor the team to ensure compliance with all relevant health codes and regulations.
Team Collaboration:
Collaborate with the Director of Nutrition Services and other healthcare professionals to ensure that meal plans meet individual needs.
Provide training and support to weekend staff on food safety, customer service, and dietary requirements.
Qualifications:
Proven experience as a Dietary Manager, Chef, or in a food service leadership role.
Strong understanding of dietary guidelines and food safety standards.
Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
Ability to manage, train, and motivate a team.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
Food safety certification (SERV Safe or equivalent) preferred.
Degree or certification in Dietetics, Nutrition, or a related field preferred.
Experience working in healthcare or long-term care facilities is a plus.
