We recently took over the space previously occupied by Only Child Brewing in Gurnee, IL. Our location will be 50% dedicated to production of Mead, Wine & Ciders while front half will serve as a taproom, serving guest taps alongside our own unique creations.

What started many years ago as an obsession to try every beer and mead in existence has now led to an opportunity to come to the table with our own interpretation of what a mead can be. Playing most frequently in the dessert category, we are willing to push the boundaries at times and stretch past balance to bring out intense flavors and unique combinations in our products.

The name Pips is not only a nod to the seeds in fruits, but also to counting devices like the symbols on playing cards or the dots on a die. Though, most importantly, it is a nod to our son, Parker, who was born with special needs. Not knowing what his future holds, Pips will forever be a home to him as a family owned business.

We firmly believe in continuous improvement at Pips. We simply make what we enjoy drinking, and are beyond humbled when we can put a smile on even one other face as a result. That said, we actively seek out learning opportunities and always plan on listening to feedback from our customers.

Our company is looking for a Server/bartender/barback to join our team. This candidate will be responsible for taking table-side orders, serving poured beverages, and maintaining a clean space. Quick timeline for growth opportunities in acting as a bartender/server. Increased responsibilities will include pouring and serving cocktails, spirits, beers, wines and meads within our space. The position requires someone who is able to work quickly, while still maintaining the highest quality of service. The ideal candidate comes to the table with bartending experience, and crafting their own cocktails, as leveraging our in-house produced meads/wines will be a must. Candidate must be social and able to maintain the highest degree of professionalism while interacting with customers. On the job training will focus on the process behind our production so that the newest addition to our team can answer customer questions with a high degree of confidence.

Responsibilities:

• Have knowledge of different liquor brands and their varieties
• Desire to learn about products manufactured on premises
• Knowledge of domestic and imported beer
• Be knowledgeable with alcohol content in different types of drinks.
• Able to recommend products and styles based on what is available onsite
• Entering sales into POS and ring up customers without error
• Maintain a clean bar area, and clean/restock glassware as needed
• Change kegs and clean draft lines as needed
• Other ancillary duties including, but not limited to, opening and closing tasks
• Most importantly, you must have fun and have passion for creativity

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $16.00 - $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 – 33 per week
