Job Summary
The Fleet Superintendent is a member of the management team responsible for overseeing the operation and maintenance of company owned or managed vessels, under direction of the Senior Fleet Superintendent.
Primary Objectives
* Safe and reliable performance of vessels in compliance with customer and Company requirements.
* Effective collaboration with Vessel Management teams and Port Engineers on the maintenance and repair of vessels to ensure satisfactory condition of hull and onboard machinery.
* Timely review, evaluation, and analysis of reports to ensure operational efficiency of Company managed vessels.
* Proactive determination of maintenance and operational improvements to ensure the safety of personnel, vessel, and cargo.
Duties and Responsibilities
* Coordinate maintenance and repair of vessels with operational and technical teams to ensure condition of hull and machinery onboard are in compliance with applicable codes, standards and regulatory requirements.
* Manage vessel compliance with flag, international, and classification rules, codes, guidelines, and industry standards.
* Assist Port Engineers in the performance or direction of on-site vessel evaluations to ensure condition, performance of maintenance, and satisfactory progress of repairs.
* Investigate, analyze, and ensure appropriate escalation of accident and near miss reports.
* Review and approve requisitions and invoices of fuel, lubricants, and vessel consumables.
* Manage the requisition and consumption of spare parts.
* Review and evaluate Position and related reports to monitor vessel status, safety, performance, and pollution prevention.
* Prepare performance evaluations of Chief Engineers and Ship Masters.
* Provide relevant guidance and instructions to Ship Masters including, but not limited to, compliance with flag, international and classification rules, codes, guidelines and industry standards, navigation, cargo operations, bunkering, and hull and deck machinery instructions.
* Provide voyage and charter party instructions, directions on maintaining and administering vessel communication software, and guidance on crew administrative matters.
* Prepare and review shore-based contingency and emergency preparedness plans.
* Implementation and maintenance of the Vessel Security Plan, and for liaison with the Facility Security Officer and the vessel's Company Security Officer.
* Collaborate with the Senior Fleet Superintendent and Vessel Operations teams on voyage planning.
* Prepare post Voyage Analysis reports and recommend maintenance or operations to improve vessel efficiency.
* Manage Provision and Stores controls.
* Coordinate the development and execution of Vessel Security Plans as designated Assistant Company and/or Vessel Security Officer.
* Assist Vessel Management team members including Technical Superintendent and Port Engineers as required.
* Assist the Designated Person Ashore (DPA) and International Safety Management Coordinator (ISM) in administering and executing safety and quality management procedures.
* Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS

Required Education
* Bachelor's degree in Maritime Operations or related field or equivalent combination of coursework and experience in directly related field
Required Licenses and Certifications
* Valid state-issued driver license and acceptable driving record
* Transportation Worker Identity Credential (TWIC)
* U.S. Merchant Marine Officer - Master Unlimited Tonnage with Vessel Security Officer (VSO) endorsement
Required Work Experience
* 5 years in a Ship Master or related position in the Maritime industry
Preferred Work Experience
* Experience in a supervisory and/or management role preferred
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
* General knowledge of ship operations and maritime regulations.
* General knowledge of stevedore operations for break bulk and/or container vessels, cargo stowage restrictions with regards to hazardous cargo, and vessel stability considerations.
* Strong professional communication skills including excellent verbal, written, and listening skills.
* Ability to make critical decisions in an ambiguous environment under stressful conditions.
* Ability to identify complex problems, recognize potential impacts, and use logic and reasoning to evaluate options and implement solutions.
* Proven ability to work in a fast paced environment, prioritize projects and deliverables, and interact effectively with cross-functional teams.
* Ability to drive automatic and manual transmission vehicles safely.

Working Environment
This role requires work that may involve the following environmental conditions:
* Vessel and terminal environment - includes moving, shifting surfaces, and active production areas including moving vehicles, equipment, and machinery.
* Outdoor/open environments which may involve high/low temperatures, humidity and inclement weather conditions.
* Work days and hours may vary to accommodate operations.
* Work schedule may include days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
Travel Requirements
Est. Amount Brief Description
25% Must be able to travel independently to other corporate locations. This position my be eligible for remote work.Employees working in remote or off-site locations may be required to travel up to 50% to be on-site at corporate or customer locations.

The applicable salary range is aligned to one of 5 zones according to a cost of labor index for the geographic location of the role. Starting pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of job-related factors, which may include related experience, education and training, location, business needs, or market demands. The expected salary range for this role is set forth below. Ranges may be modified in the future.
Zone 3: $90,000 - $134,000
This job is also eligible for participation in an Incentive Plan with a target payout based on eligible compensation and corporate/individual performance goal attainment.
Annual Incentive Opportunity: 10% of eligible compensation
