JOB DESCRIPTION
The Patient Intake Specialist is the first point of contact for patients and visitors at The People’s Health Clinic. The person in this position must be fluent in Spanish and able to provide excellent customer service by adjusting their approach to all types of individuals with the ability to handle difficult situations in a calm manner. The Patient Intake Specialist is responsible for the creation and maintenance of patient records as well as the scheduling of patient appointments.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Greet patients in a welcoming and professional manner
• Answer incoming calls
• Respond to inquiries or refer appropriately as required
• Provide current/prospective patients with information about the clinic in person and by telephone
• Schedule and reschedule patient appointments
• Prep patient appointments (i.e UCCP paperwork)
• Confirm new patient appointments for the following day
• Establish and maintain patient charts
• Provide patient registration packets to new patients
• Request monetary donations from patients when appropriate
• Complete daily cash balances/reconciliation according to policy
• Collect demographic data from patients and enter into the data collection system on a daily basis
• Clean and tidy up the front desk area and waiting room area midday and at the end of the day
• Other responsibilities as assigned
COMPETENCIES:
• Experience in a medical/clinic environment desired
• Fluent in English and Spanish
• Customer Service Oriented
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Pleasant and professional manner in person and over the phone
• Ability to maintain patient confidentiality
• Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment
• Basic computer skills
